The Academy

The Academy is a daycare located at Connection Pointe Christian Church, open Monday - Friday from 6:30 am – 6:00 pm for children ages 2 months to PreK. The Academy utilizes faith-based curriculum with teacher driven activities and learn-through-play opportunities. Children will flourish in the exciting learning environment that will strengthen them spiritually, academically, socially, physically and emotionally. Activities like daily chapel and Fun Friday’s add to the learning experience.

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION: The Academy Teacher & Co-Teacher will work together to coordinate all activities within a classroom.

Position Classroom Age Schedule

Teacher 8 Weeks –1.5 Years Full Time 40 hours / week 7:30AM-4:30PM

Teacher 8 Weeks –1.5 Years Full Time 40 hours / week 8:00AM-5:00PM

Teacher 2 / 3 Years Full Time 40 hours / week 7:30AM-4:30PM

Teacher 2 / 3 Years Full Time 40 hours / week 8:15AM-5:15PM

Teacher Pre-K Full Time 40 hours / week 8:00AM-5:00PM

Teacher Responsibilities

• Lead the classroom day in and day out
• Accountable for positive classroom atmosphere
• Guides Co-Teachers in daily classroom functions
• Responsible for maintaining safe and positive classroom environment
• Daily cleaning of classroom
• Maintains and organizes all classroom supplies
• Responsible for organizing classroom books, toys, and puzzles
• Diaper/ Potty train Children
• Track Daily Attendance (in room purposes only)
• Organize A Beka materials & crafts, prep daily and present curriculum to students
• Create a safe, nurturing environment where children can play and learn
• Partner with parents with a shared desire to provide the best care and education for their children
• Support The Academy’s success by partnering with center staff and leadership to achieve goals around enrollment, state requirements, and engagement
• Implement The Academy’s curriculum in a way that is consistent with the unique needs of each child
• Maintain confidentiality regarding personal information on children, family and staff

Co-Teacher Responsibilities

• Daily cleaning of classroom & toys
• Follow the Teacher’s daily instructions for classroom functions
• Assist the Teacher with maintaining a safe and positive classroom environment
• Diaper/ Potty train Children
• Assist the Teacher with implementing The Academy’s curriculum in a way that is consistent with the unique needs of each child
• Create a safe, nurturing environment where children can play and learn
• Maintain confidentiality regarding personal information on children, family and staff

Qualifications

• A personal relationship with Christ and committed to being a part of the Connection Pointe family
• A commitment to nurturing and inspiring the children in your care
• A desire to partner with parents in their child's education
• A willingness to create a positive team environment
• Demonstrated knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• CPR and First Aid Certification or willingness to obtain
• Must be physically able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds, and work indoors or outdoors
• Ability to assume postures in low levels to allow physical and visual contact with children, see and hear well enough to keep children safe, and engage in physical activity with children
• Read, write, understand, and speak English to communicate with children and their parents in English
• All center staff applicants must meet state specific guidelines for the role
• Ability to make sound judgment and decisions even when distracted by noise and activity.
• Ability to observe and promote safety and security procedures.

Education & Experience

• Prior child care experience preferred
• High School Diploma or GED required
• College degree preferred specifically in Early Childhood Development or a related field
