Big Sandy Area Community Action Program is seeking qualified candidates for a Head Start Teacher Assistant for Model City Head Start in Pikeville.

Position Summary: The Teacher Assistant will assist the teacher to provide developmentally appropriate activities to promote health, nutrition, and education for preschool age children.

Job Duties and details:

* Helping children with personal tasks

* Assisting teacher with records of daily attendance and data collection

* Maintaining a safe and orderly environment for preschool children

* Instructing children in the practices of personal cleanliness, self-care, good manners and safety procedures

Qualifications:

* High school diploma or GED required

* Child Development Associate or willingness to obtain preferred

* Knowledge of typical behaviors/expectations of three to five-year-old children

* Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds and the ability to communicate verbally with children to ensure safe supervision and appropriate instruction

* Physically capable of interacting with young children through running, chasing, bending, stooping, lifting, climbing, and standing

* Well-developed interpersonal skills

* Valid driver’s license

*Hire subject to Head Start regulations and agency policy on background checks and drug screening

Wage

· $10.10 with High School Diploma

· $11.07 with Childhood Development Associate credential

· $12.50 with Associate Degree in Early Childhood
