Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Performs LC/MS/MS operations, troubleshooting and associated duties.
  • Analyzes the LC/MS/MS data and submits final reports ensuring accuracy within the LIS.
  • Design, operationalize, and direct technical performance of the Toxicology Laboratory
  • Maintain an in-depth understanding of current industry knowledge of procedural, regulatory and applicable instrumentation and methodology.
  • With Medical and Technical directors, develop and maintain appropriate technical operations policies.
  • Provide consultation on technical matters to internal and external clients, the business community and industry as needed. Serve as the resource for Toxicology operations at CompuNet.
  • Develop training programs and competency assessment tools; maintain records of training and competency as required by CAP/CLIA.
  • Assist with strategic planning for Toxicology; make recommendations for improvement in methods and test menus to the Technical Director and Medical Director.
  • Assist with selection of instruments and methodologies, oversee method validation and verification studies, monitor test performance.
  • Compile and/or generate QC/QA reports for Technical Director and Laboratory Management.
  • Assist with selection of new employees, provide initial training and ongoing development through coaching, continuing education, competency assessment and the performance appraisal process.
  • Ensure readiness for accreditation and inspection visits by regulatory agencies; provide oversight of required internal and external proficiency testing
  • Participate as part of the CompuNet Management Team, attending appropriate meetings and participating in various committees and teams as needed
  • Perform routine technical work, advanced/specialized testing or any other duties assigned or needed
  • Possess strong working knowledge of all pertinent legal, company, and compliance policies.
  • Adjusts work schedule to meet the needs of the department.
Qualifications:
  • BS degree in in Medical Technology / Medical Laboratory Technician or chemical science, physical science, biological science. If MT/MLT, ASCP registry preferred.
  • Master’s degree in chemistry, toxicology, or pharmacology preferred
  • Minimum 2 years Toxicology experience with LC/MS methodologies; experience with Waters instrumentation preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and abilities in the areas of inspection readiness, method validation, policy and procedure creation, laboratory safety and training.
  • Demonstrated positive client services and customer satisfaction skills and abilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Sound reasoning ability and independent judgment
  • Ability to work within specified deadlines and timetables
  • Excellent communication and people skills
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Must have ability to establish work priorities and handle several procedures simultaneously
  • Must be able to work well under pressure or in stressful circumstances
Physical demands and work environment:
  • Visual acuity and hand-finger dexterity to work at computer for extended periods.
  • Hand-finger dexterity to prepare and test specimens
  • Perform accurate data entry in a potentially noisy environment.
  • Comprehend verbal and written directions.
  • Concentrate on a task over a period of time without being distracted.
  • Complete integrity and accuracy in test performance and results reporting.
Safety demands and requirements:
  • Will have exposure to biohazard substances and hazardous chemicals.
  • Be familiar with and adhere to safety, ergonomic and health policies of the Company.
  • Comply with all PPE requirements when in the laboratory or other biohazard areas.
  • Complete required safety training and health evaluations in a timely manner.
  • Anticipate safety hazards, act upon unsafe situations and promote safety awareness.
