RJE Telecom is looking for a Telecommunications Aerial Make Ready Engineer in the Buffalo, NY and surrounding areas to join our team and help connect America. Our Make Ready Engineers are responsible for producing cost-effective engineered designs for construction to place messenger strand, anchors, fiber/copper and other attachments while complying with national and local regulations surrounding aerial construction.

This is a position with field visits in the Buffalo, NY and surrounding areas. Candidate must reside or have plans to relocate to the Buffalo, NY or surrounding areas.

What you’ll do…
  • You will work in various customer specific systems to produce cost-effective engineered design for construction to place messenger strand, anchors, fiber/copper and other attachments while complying with national and local regulations surrounding aerial construction
  • You will need to be able to design an aerial path from point A to point B based on engineering best practices
  • You will identify the necessary requirements to successfully attach fiber/copper cables to a poles
  • You will engineer in the public right of way and on private property, avoiding conflict with existing facilities
  • You will review utility poles and field notes to determine most accurate make ready solution
  • You will provide solutions for poles that fail pole loading or are not good candidates for new attachments
  • You will produce make ready worksheets and prints
  • You will coordinate with project teams and engineers to ensure the accuracy, completeness and delivery of all work
  • You will research and document requirements on aerial construction by pole owner or customer for whom the work is being performed
  • You will act as a subject matter expert for make ready engineering, both internally and externally to HHS’s customers
Qualifications:
Who we are looking for…
  • You have a high school diploma or GED equivalent
  • You have experience with project management processes, tools, and the ability to coordinate multiple projects with reproducible results
  • You have experience and understanding of outside plant engineering and construction techniques
  • You have experience working with Outside Plant Engineering in the following systems: client-specific GIS software; familiarity with pole loading software (OCALC, SpidaCalc, etc.) a plus, but not required
  • You have knowledge of fiber networking, routing, and network management
  • You have an understanding of Outside Plant Engineering as it pertains to the architecture of various FTTX networks
  • You have deep knowledge of OSP design and construction, specifically relating to aerial plant, make ready engineering and construction
  • You are able to read and analyze results of pole loading
  • You are able to read work prints and construction drawings
  • You have an understanding of NESC, GO95 and joint use
  • You have knowledge of joint pole agreements and processes
  • You have Joint Pole Association background experience
  • You have intermediate to advanced skills in all Microsoft Office programs
  • You have construction experience (preferred, but not required)
  • You have field experience (preferable, but not required)
  • You have experience with AutoCAD (a plus, but not required)
  • You are deadline driven, self-motivated, and technically savvy
  • You have excellent verbal and written interpersonal communication skills
  • You have superior time management
  • You have strong attention to detail
  • You are able to be flexible, take direction with ease, including changes to schedule and workflow priorities
  • You have critical thinking skills; make assessments and provide solutions to problems
  • You are able to maintain professional tact in a fast-paced work environment with internal personnel and clients
  • You have superior customer service and dedication to providing customers “White Glove Service”
