This is a temporary position.

NC Ferry Division is hiring temporary Marine Maintenance. Work can and will be located throughout the Ferry Division at each terminal. While Currituck is the home station workers are not required to report there at the start of the 7 day shift but rather must report to the project location. Project locations include but are not limited to the ferry terminal of Currituck, Knotts Island, Hatteras, Stumpy Point, Rodanthe, Ocracoke (Silver Lake and South Dock), Pamlico River (Bayview – Aurora), Swan Quarter, Cedar Island, Southport, Fort Fisher, Cherry Branch, Minnesott Beach, and the Manns Harbor Shipyard.

In this role you will:

Work in this class involves the construction of cribbing, floats, shorelines, and dredge discharge lines during dredging operations. Employees assemble and align sections of quick-couplings or flange pipe as needed, coupling sections together by applying manual pressure to locking devices or by placing gaskets between sections and bolting flanges together. Work involves considerable exposure to the natural elements and taxing manual work from small boats or pontoons. Work is performed under the general supervision of the dredge captain and is reviewed through observation of duties performed.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

High School or General Educational Development (GED) diploma. Necessary Special Requirements Transportation Worker Identification Credential Card (TWIC) issued by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) May require National Crane Operator certification, U.S. Coast Guard Master of Towing certification, and a Class A CDL.
