Test Engineers support New Product Development (NPD) and Sustaining Engineering projects by providing design Verification and Validation of a product’s user, performance and technical requirements, collaborating technically and programmatically with project teams to design and develop test systems and method. Test Engineers have responsibility for independently directing and performing test activities to ensure product quality, reliability, and regulatory compliance.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES)

RESPONSIBILITIES
Collaborates with cross-functional design and project engineers to understand product performance requirements and identifies optimum test and analysis methodologies.
Establishes and manages V&V plans and resources supporting project team objectives and manages own schedule in support of project timely completion.
Develops standard and specialized test methods for product testing using a variety of lab tools and equipment.
Designs, develops, fabricates, and verifies test fixtures and procures specialized and general-purpose test equipment as required.
Responsible for protocol development and subsequent mechanical, electrical, electro-mechanical and simulated use testing and analysis.
Identifies, evaluates, coordinates, and leads testing performed by outside laboratories.
Analyzes test failures and collaborates with project teams to identify design solutions.
Performs data review and statistical analysis to prepare and submit V&V report(s) for assigned projects.
Supports continuous improvement opportunities in V&V processes and capabilities.
Collaborates effectively at all levels of the organization.

REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
Bachelor Degree (BS) in Engineering (e.g. Mechanical, Electrical, Biomedical, or other related field) is required; Advanced degree in field is desirable but not required.
Equivalent of 3 years’ related work experience
Experience with writing protocols and reporting of results

DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
Experience with device development and testing is preferred
Experience in the medical device industry is preferred
Experience with statistics, basic hypothesis testing, and Design of Experiments (DOE); Ability to study data collection, organization, analysis, interpretation, and presentation.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
  • 5% travel domestic locations
  • Occasional overnight trips may be required
