Purpose of Position
Under the general supervision of the Distance Learning Testing Centers' Coordinator, the Testing Specialist administers academic, online learning, placement, and workforce certification testing providing a secure environment that conforms to all applicable testing policies and procedures at WKU (Western Kentucky University). Test administration includes registration, fee collection, test setup, results reporting, required paperwork, filing, and other related duties.The Testing Specialist will interact with community members, students, faculty, staff, and testing vendors.This is a full-time position. Work hours may include days, nights and/or weekends with advance notice
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
The following duties are customary for this position but are not to be construed as all-inclusive. Duties may be added, deleted, and assigned based on management discretion and institutional needs.
- Executes the daily testing services and operations (i.e. exam registration, student communications, student complaints, student inquiries, exam administration, exam security, test infraction reporting, proctoring and security protocols, FERPA compliance, processing exam payments, etc.)
- Assists Coordinator with ensuring integrity and quality of testing environment in compliance with the National College Testing Association's (NCTA) Standards and Guidelines and any unique requirements of the specific testing agency
- Completes and maintains required testing certification for contracted vendors
- Assists with staff development training for placement and certification testing
- Works with the Distance Learning Testing Center Coordinator to create testing schedules (i.e. staffing schedules, delivery of exams, etc.)
- Industry testing growth, networking, and marketing
- Assistance with ProctorU setup for industry examinations
- Assistance with industry scheduling
- Assistance with industry data oversight
- Backup for DLTC (Distance Learning Testing Center) Online testing specialist and proctoring staff
- Attends WKU events as a WKU representative as needed
- Other duties as requested
Job Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED
- Knowledge of or experience in a postsecondary environment and/or certification testing
- Experience using common office equipment and software (i.e. PC computer, MS Office, copier, scanner, and fax machines)
- Must have a valid Kentucky driver's license
- Work hours may include days, nights and/or weekends with advance notice
Additional Information:
Hourly Range: $15-$17.18/hr
