Job description
The Theater Technical Coordinator at Minneapolis College coordinates and facilitates the build of sets for 3-4 productions per academic year on campus (Whitney Mainstage Theater, Whitney Fine Arts). This position would help oversee the upkeep and organization of the scene shop and theater props. This role helps with the work lead of students completing required lab hours and work study.

The theater technical coordinator is also responsible for technical aspects of theater productions for the college and partners including Metropolitan State University, music events and rentals, and performs skilled work in scenic design, prop design and technical direction.
Required Qualifications
  • Experience and/or education in areas such as set design and construction, scenery preparation and rigging, lighting, and/or Technical Theater;
  • Knowledge of occupational practices of the theater and its machinery and equipment, and the safety procedures involved in working with the same;
  • Knowledge of standard practices used in the construction of stage scenery, furniture, and properties;
• Knowledge of conventional methods of rigging stage scenery; • Knowledge of the standard materials used in scenic construction (e.g. lumber, canvas, metal, plastics) sufficient to order them, work with them, and use them in a skilled manner for set construction;
  • Ability to read working drawings, front elevations, floor plans, and shift plans sufficient to accurately implement their directions in a timely manner;
  • Ability to provide work lead to skilled and unskilled helpers
  • Demonstrates an ongoing understanding of cultural fluency. Incorporates culturally responsive practices, and actively engages in antiracism professional development learning opportunities

Current or former employees at Minneapolis College must be in good standings for consideration.
