Tool Room Machinist – Minneapolis, MN
Metal-Matic, LLC. is a progressive and major manufacturer in highly engineered steel tubing. We provide products to manufacturers in multiple industries including automotive, construction, agriculture, appliance, energy, recreation and many others.
This full-time, hourly position is located at 629 Second Street SE in Minneapolis and works 1st shift Monday through Friday, 7am to 3:00pm. Hourly wage starts at $29.81.
Benefits include: Health coverage, 401(k) match, Vacation time and nine paid holidays. We offer a retention bonus of $1500 paid in 3 installments- $250 at 90 days, $250 at six months and $1000 at one year of employment.
Position Overview
Carries through to completion without supervision the machining and fitting of all kinds of metal parts, tools, and machines. Lays out work from blueprints, sketches, and written specifications. Sets up and operates all available machine tools and performs progressive machining operations on work involving very close tolerances or unusual requirements.

Requirements:
- Minimum of one year of CNC programming and operating experience.
- Knowledge of setting up and operating all manual machine tools (lathe, milling machine, etc.).
- Familiarity with performing progressive machining operations on work involving very close tolerances or unusual requirements.
- Capable of determining operation sequence.
- Able to skillfully use all machinist's hand tools and measuring instruments.
- Familiar with working properties of all metals.
- Able to lay out work from drawing sketches or written instructions.
- Must have enough hand tools to perform work.
- Knowledge of advanced shop mathematics.
- Work with minimal supervision.
- Assume various other duties as directed by the Supervisor.
- You have Hurco CNC vertical milling center operating and programming experience.
- You have Mazak CNC turning center operating and programming using Mazatrol experience.
- You possess a strong mechanical aptitude.
- You have great attention to detail and ability to follow work instructions.
- You can meet product quality standards.
- You like working as a member of a team.
- You have the ability to maintain an excellent attendance record.
- The ability to pass a pre-employment drug test and criminal background check
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment (preferred)
