JOB SUMMARY

Machining operations in the Tool Room. Sets up and operates machines, CNC 3 and 5 axis milling, Wire EDM.

Mastercam programing. Also Milling, Turning, Drilling, Surface Grinding.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Sets up and operates machine tools such as CNC milling machines, lathes, milling machines, drill presses, and surface grinders.

2. Lifts machined parts and positions and secures parts on surface plate or worktable.

3. Assembles and presets tooling for next operation during automated cycle to reduce machine downtime.

4. Verifies dimensions, alignments, and clearances. Works to tolerance as close as zero.

5. Smooth flat and contoured surfaces, fits and assembles parts together into assemblies and mechanisms.

6. Studies specifications such as blueprints, sketches, models, or descriptions, and visualizes product to determine materials required and machines to be used to fabricate parts.

7. Computes dimensions, plans layout, and determines assembly method and sequence of operations.

8. Responsible for the TPM on machine tools.

9. Adhere to Quality, Safety, and Environmental Policies.

10. Performs other duties and assignments as deemed necessary or appropriate.

11. Able to attend classes and or training as needed

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Must have successfully completed a tool making or machining discipline apprenticeship
• Programing and CNC machining experience preferred
• Welding experience preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

1. Able to read 3D and 2D designs

2. Able to run manual machines

3. Able to sketch draft in AutoCAD

4. Can write CNC programs at the machine or in Mastercam

5. Able to operate overhead cranes and fork lift

6. Understanding of safety protocols and PPE in a machining environment

7. Understanding of 5S

8. Knowledge of Kanban

9. Knowledge of SAP

10. Working knowledge of MS Office

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS OF THE JOB

1. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.

2. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud, hearing protection is required.

3. Able to work weekends and overtime as required.
