General Summary:
In collaboration with training and human resource department members, the training manager creates, develops, implements and conducts training in accordance with the regulatory and program requirements as well as the organization’s learning initiatives. The training manager will coordinate the training department’s initiatives and priorities across the MDH Network. Establishes schedules and maintains training records to ensure compliance with instruction of employees responsible for driving in their respective roles.
Essential Functions:
- Collaborates with the human resource and recruitment directors and operational leadership in the establishment of educational priorities in terms of regulatory and operational business needs
- Coordinates employee assessment, training and continuous education (CE) curriculum in support of company strategic plan
- Identifies the training and educational needs of the different entities of the organization, and develops training strategies to support long-term growth objectives
- Stays abreast of educational and learning products, approaches, and regulations with the company’s sector as well as vendor training updates and changes.
- Leverages online training resources (ADP, SHRM, other social media outlets, etc.) and the company’s Learning Management system. Actively manages LMS database
- Tracks and ensures the administration of and participation in CPR, First Aide, CPI, DSP I, DSP II, Continuous Education (CE), Harassment/Sexual Harassment and other required trainings
- Instructs and monitors employee students in the use of learning materials and equipment
- Communicates necessary information regularly to students and members of management regarding student progress and training objectives
- Creates, develops, and implements curriculum for new hires and current workforce
- Collaboratively assists in the development of a yearly training calendar for continuous education
- Coordinates monthly training schedules with the human resource department, administrators and program directors prior to publication
- Creates, develops and delivers engaging and impactful orientation, onboarding and other organizational training in both the classroom and virtual environments which addresses learning and skill needs
- Communicates the company’s service culture, experience and knowledge to the workforce to develop an environment that has proven successful in the delivery of services to the Individuals we support
- Assists in the development and implementation of training and development policies and procedures
- Collaborates with the training and development team, operations and human resources in recommendations of the training needs for the various company entities
- Recommends improvements to the learning process as a knowledgeable and skilled resource to other team members
- Establishes and builds relationships with company stakeholders and prospective employees to promote a positive work environment and foster the company value proposition as an employer of choice
- Establishes and communicates clear learning objectives for all learning activities
- Prepares, designs and delivers instructional activities that facilitate and support active adult learning experiences
- Manages classroom environment which may include virtual classroom environments, coordinating and establishing weekly, monthly training schedules for course content and other assigned learning content
- Identifies, creatively designs, and implements effective training methods for enhancing employee performance and recognizing outstanding performance
- Actively assesses, measures, and analyzes learning outcomes to ensure continuous quality improvement. Collaboratively identifies future learning opportunities in the assessment of company training needs
- Conducts research analysis and partners with the human resource department to determine employee training and development requirements
- Assures compliance with all related regulatory agencies’ guidelines in the design, implementation and administration of all training and education programs
- Takes an active role in coaching/mentoring individuals and teams to raise their level of performance with learning outcomes
- Performs other duties and responsibilities, as assigned
REQUIRED SKILLS, EDUCATION AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:

- Problem-solving skills and sound judgment to create strategies and solutions that will maximize training opportunities for the company
- Knowledge and experience working with Title 17 and 22 regulations and industry practices
- Ability to partner with operations management team to align department with strategic direction
- Ability to effectively set-up, install, upgrade and troubleshoot hardware/software systems used in the classroom training environment
- Demonstrates proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and applicable LMS software systems
Professional Experience/Education/Certifications:
- A Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in professional certified training/education
- Five years of training experience with at least three years within a social services or health care environment
- Experience coaching and managing a full-cycle training program in a service environment
- Certification as CPR/CPI Instructor
- Completion of DSP1 and DSP2 certifications preferred
