Summary
Tram Operators at Nashville Zoo are responsible for safely operating passenger trams to transport guests between the front entrance and zoo parking lots.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Operate an open tram cart in zoo parking lots to transport guests between the front zoo entrance and various zoo parking lots.

• Positively and professionally interact with guests throughout the duration of the tram ride.

• Assist in directing guest parking as needed.

• Review safety protocols with guests prior to tram ride and respectfully respond to safety issues during the tram ride.

• Maintain safe driving practices by adhering to following standard driving procedures.

• Remain alert at all times for any hazardous conditions that may cause accidents or injuries to passengers or pedestrians.

• Report any mechanical issues with the vehicle to maintenance security supervisor.

• Stay aware of current events that may impact traffic flow or safety concerns such as road construction or severe weather events.

• Report unsafe driving conditions to safety supervisor.

• Assist in directing guest parking as needed.

Skills & Competencies

• Must be able to safely operate tram cart.

• Must be able to follow all safety protocols.

• Must have a valid drivers license.

• Must have a clean driving record.

Education/Experience

• No prior experience required; some transportation experience preferred.

Physical Requirement & Work Environment
Must be able to meet the following standards with or without accommodation:

• Must be able to work outside year-round under typical Tennessee temperatures for extended periods of time.

• Must be able to safely grip and rotate steering wheeling.

• Must be able to safely apply pressure to breaks and accelerator.

• Must be able to respond quickly and safely to potential safety hazards.

• Must be able to comprehend and retain tram operational and safety instructions.

• Must be able to visually see roads and potential safety hazards in both direct and peripheral line of sight.

Work Schedule

• Full-Time: Any combination of 5 work days in a week including weekends.

• Part-time: Any combination of 2 or more days in a week.

• Regular business operation ours between anytime between 8AM and 7PM.

• Evening hours based on Nashville Zoo evening event schedules.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From $18.00 per hour
