University Orthopaedic Associates, a Division of OrthoNJ, is a leading orthopaedic practice which provides a full spectrum of orthopaedic care. Our board certified surgeons, each with subspecialty training offer the best care in sports medicine, arthroscopic surgery, joint replacement, traumatology, hand and upper extremity surgery, foot and ankle surgery and surgery of the spine.
We have an exciting part-time opportunityto join our Somerset Teamas an Orthopaedic Medical Transcriptionist. To qualify for this particular position, you must have a High School Diploma or equivalent with one (1) to two (2) years of medical transcription experience. Orthopaedic experience is strongly preferred. Candidate must be detailed oriented and have the ability to multi-task with excellent communication and writing skills. Hours of this position would be from 12:30 PM until 5 PM. This role would require that candidate reports to the Somerset office (not a remote position).
Brief Overview of Position/ Job Description:
- Proficient knowledge of computer systems, with experience in window based operating systems and Microsoft Office, especially MS Word
- Typing Aptitude: 70+ WPM
- Knowledge of EMR Software (preferred)
- Learn the functionality of EMR Software to produce medical/ legal reports to obtain missing chart content as needed for completion of medical reports
- Interpret and transcribe the dictation from workers compensation and liability cases into patient history, exam notes, operative reports, referral letters, discharge summaries, and other documents
- Review and edit drafts prepared by speech recognition software, making sure that the transcription is accurate and complete
- Ideal candidate must be able to identify inconsistencies and inaccuracies in medical dictation and be familiar with medical/ surgical terminology, anatomy and physiology, diagnostic procedures, pharmacology, and treatment assessments
