Job description
Sitka AmeriCorps Program mission is to mitigate the effects of high ACEs scores prevalent in rural Alaskan communities, through developmental relationships and enrichment activities. Mission: The Sitka School District will intentionally develop Haa Latseenà (Our Strength of Mind, Body, and Spirit) to inspire and prepare students to be compassionate, empowered, and equipped critical thinkers within a global community.
Member Duties : This member will serve intentionally to build resiliency in students by acting as a liaison between social service agencies and the school to provide wrap around service for at-risk students. The AmeriCorps members serving in the school district are embedded within the schools in a way that is unique and provides a nurturing role model for at risk youth that affects their lives in a meaningful way. Working in a team setting, this position requires building positive relationships with students, families, and faculty. These relationships are the basis with which to facilitate enrichment opportunities for students. At the start of the school year the member will meet with the administrative team and determine the specifics of the member duties. As a valued member of the school community, you will share in some or all of the responsibilities shared with you when you contact the program manager.
