PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Set up and operate below machines and equipment on any job assigned to consistently produce work of accepted quality and quantity.
  • Must be able to determine feeds and speeds to obtain approximate maximum performance for all types of grinding tools involved.
  • Assemble units or sub-assemblies on any job assigned to consistently produce work of accepted quality and quantity.
  • Report substandard parts to supervision.
  • Perform series of actual detailed operations such as accurate fitting, aligning, lapping, adjusting, drilling, tapping, cutting off, babbitting, testing, etc.
  • May be required to work in operations supporting assembly (stockroom, packaging & shipping).
  • Occasionally required to help/assist new or transferred employees.
  • Occasionally required to do work of higher level as a means of preparing for advancement.
  • Exercise proper care of tools and equipment.
  • Must be able to work mandatory overtime as needed

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Requires the use of shop mathematics together with the use of complicated drawings, specifications, charts, tables, and adjustable measuring instruments.
  • Equivalent of 2-5 years applied trades training.
  • Some manual lathe experience required.

EQUIPMENT/TOOLS:

  • Any machine in the assigned department
  • Cutting tools such as drills, deburring tools, polishing tools, reamers, taps, boring, tuming, facing, threading, grooving, forming, and similar or equivalent tools.
  • Holding devices such as chucks, collets, and fixtures.
  • Measuring tools such as mikes, depth gages, calipers, and similar or equivalent tools.
  • Any machinable materials and all materials used in assembly and testing of pumps and units.

WORK ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds on a regular basis and up to 70 pounds on a periodic basis.
  • Stand for extended periods of time up to 10 hours per day.
  • Ability to move within office and manufacturing complex and write by hand and/or type.
  • Ability to communicate by speech and hearing via phone and in person.
  • Visual acuity needed for close detail work and computer use.
  • Must not have a pacemaker or other medical devices that could be compromised around strong magnets.
  • Exposed to any number of elements, but none continuously present to the extent of being disagreeable.
