Job description
Assists in the daily operations of the Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) System. Responsible for installation, inspection, and maintenance of advanced meter equipment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Communicates with advanced meter technology using computer devices and other technology to perform meter diagnostics, analytics, and meter maitenance for the purposes of billing;
- Assists in installing and troubleshooting equipment for advanced meter infrastructure;
- Performs field inspections of electric service at the meeting point
- Performs disconnects and connects for both electric and water meters, obtain readings via computer device to verify service status;
- Investigate instances of non-billed consumption to attempt to determine who is using services;
- Investigate customer complaints of high utility usage by analyzing meter data on-site/in the field;
- Records work orders daily;
- Recognizes tampering and hazards of the electric and water meter systems;
- Analyze utility meters to identify performance irregularities and completes the necessary maintenance to correct the problem;
- Responsible for routine maintenance and inspections of assigned work vehicle, and logs the results;
- Performs HI-PRIORITY and customer requests for electric and water meters;
- Performs related work as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or GED with two years of experience in customer service or collections, with an additional one year technical experience; or any combination of relevant education and experience.
Valid Current Driver's License

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
- Advanced meter infrastructure components and operations;
- Basic computer or tablet operations;
- Logging work orders and maintaining information in a work management system;
- Deal effectively with the public and resolve customer complaints.
- Communicate effectively with coworkers and citizens;
- Operate a digital interface via a computer or tablet to troubleshoot and analyze data collected from the meter;
- Use hand tools necessary for the installation or maintenance of advanced meter infrastructure;
- Ability to work in all types of weather conditions daily;
- Maintain accurate records.
- Frequently lift and carry up to 75 pounds;
- Frequently carry up to 10 pounds;
- Continuously stand and walk during the shift;
- Frequently kneel and bend during shift;
- Frequently climb ladders, stairs and other inclined surfaces;
- Frequently push and pull objects;
- Frequently flex upper trunk forward at the waist and partially flex at the knees;
- Frequently rotate upper trunk to the right or left while sitting or standing;
- Coordinate eye, hand and foot movement in order to operate a vehicle;
- Place arms above, at or below shoulder height.
