The Utility Technician I is responsible for performing various general labor activities that provide assistance at the jobsite.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform basic installation, repair and maintenance of sewer collections/water distribution systems
• Perform general housekeeping and grounds maintenance duties
• Maintain, clean and stock materials on trucks and equipment
• Makes scheduled inspections
• Read meters on assigned route; ensure proper functioning of meters; identifies irregularities and reports to supervisor
• Operate assigned company vehicle and maintains vehicle in clean condition
• Other duties as assigned.
• Willing to work all shifts, including: weekends, holidays, evening and 24-hour emergency on call.

Licenses/Certifications: Valid Driver’s License and maintains insurable driving record.

Technical: Ability to follow manual & operating instructions. Knowledge of process control techniques, maintenance procedures & safety practices. Ability to perform routine maintenance/repairs. Ability to work with required tools (including jack hammer, demolishing saw, etc.). Comfortable in and around water/raw sewage.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Must be able to: frequently lift 50-80 pounds; load, unload & move large equipment/tools; access confined spaces; continuously walk and climb stairs and ladders.
