- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Mechanical experience preferred
- Proficiency in computer applications, writing skills, applicable federal, state and local laws, codes and regulations
- Be able to obtain a Class B Commercial Driver’s License with Passenger, School Bus, and Air Brake endorsements
- Be able to pass a School Bus Drivers physical examination, per Federal and State Department of Transportation Laws, including substance abuse screening
- Must be able to pass a Fingerprint and background clearance, obtain IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
- Must have an excellent attendance record
- ASE Certification preferred
- Provide assistance to District mechanic staff in the maintenance of all District vehicles.
- Safeguard all tools, parts, and supplies.
- Learn all aspects of mechanical repair services for all vehicles.
- Prepare and make available all requistioned vehicles.
- Serve as substitute bus driver.
- Operate all vehicles in a safe, efficient manner and transport only authorized students and personnel.
- Communicate with Director, drivers, and District staff in a professional manner.
- Cooperate with supervisory staff in basic checkout and emergency procedures.
- Provide departmental reports as requested.
- Compelte written reports and discuss with Director all accidents, vehicle damage, and student injury situations.
- Willing to work split shifts, if necessary, as determined by the Director of Transportation.
- Attend mandatory department meetings
- Maintain confiedentiality.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
