Introduction


The Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs (WDVA) currently has an opening for a Veterans Outreach and Recovery Coordinator. This position works as part of the Veterans Outreach and Recovery Program (VORP) serving Southeast Wisconsin. The headquarter location for this position is Union Grove, WI.

Position Summary


This position serves as a WDVA Regional Program Coordinator, providing a vast array of support services for Wisconsin veterans and their families throughout each position’s assigned region. The incumbent conducts outreach support in the form of case management to veterans; ensuring connections to continual and effective treatment. This position provides life sustaining and betterment resources to veterans and their families which may include behavioral health, housing, and employment resources.

The incumbent of this position also provides liaison support to community and government organizations which serve Wisconsin’s veteran population; promoting veterans’ benefits in order to maximize delivery to Wisconsin veterans. Other duties include attending events such as workshops, town hall meetings, stand-downs, and benefit fairs.

Salary Information


Starting wage is between $22.50 and $26.00 an hour. Current state employees pay will be based on the provisions in the State of Wisconsin Compensation Plan. This classification is in Pay Schedule 07, Pay Range 04. A twelve-month probationary period will be required.

Job Details


WDVA will conduct criminal background checks prior to an offer of hire.

Due to nature of this position’s duties, the work location may at times include confinement facilities such as jails and/or prison facilities as well as facilities that serve homeless populations.

This position will periodically work evening and weekend hours and may require driving and/or working in remote areas. The incumbent must meet the minimum standards for driving a state vehicle.

Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States (i.e., a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without WDVA sponsorship) at the time of application.

Qualifications


Minimally-qualified applicants will have experience:

  • Providing program outreach (e.g., initiate face-to-face meetings with clients, identify outreach opportunities, organize events, distribute program resources, etc.); and
  • Conducting case management (e.g., work with clients on service referrals, perform initial client screening, maintain case management records, etc.)

Well-qualified applicants will also have experience:

  • Utilizing computerized databases (e.g., maintain electronic records, generate computerized database reports, etc.); and
  • Providing liaison support between organizations.
