Dermatology Department Veterinary Technician

We are looking for techs who want to have fun while advancing their knowledge and skills in the veterinary world. Our ideal candidate is a registered veterinary technician or experienced veterinary assistant with a minimum of 3 years in the veterinary field. We are looking for candidates with a positive, can-do attitude and a willingness to learn and work. We are seeking technicians who are detail-oriented, take initiative and communicate very well. RVT or experience with anesthesia preferred.

Expected abilities:

• Assisting the doctor with physical exams
• Patient restraint
• Strong communication skills
• Physically able and WILLING to lift up to 40 lbs.
• Medically able to take digital radiographs
• Able to perform medical math (basic algebra) for dosing
• Basic use of a microscope (or willing to learn)
• Comfortable with IV/IM/SQ injections
• Urinary extraction via cystocentesis (K9 and feline)
• IV Catheter placement.
• Blood draw (including jugular)
• Know normal vital signs for canines and felines
• Monitoring anesthesia

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

• Stocking and cleaning the department
• Assisting the dermatologist with physical exams and assessments.
• Presenting / explaining estimates with clients
• Assisting clients with questions about their pets: prescriptions, side effects, medical plan or procedures

Must have:

• Experience in the veterinary field.
• Compassion toward patients as a priority
• Desire to exceed client expectations of service
• “Can do” attitude

• Deep Ear Flush
• Cryotherapy
• Intradermal testing
• Medical bathing
• Skin and ear cytology

Currently, clients are not allowed into our facility and all staff must wear masks. Temperature checks occur daily. We also have face shields for staff upon request.
