ABOUT THE JOB:The Vice President, Hematology Oncology oversees and leads strategic planning, development, and execution of strategic aims for quality, experience, program growth and development, and operational efficiencies across the System. They serve as the primary Hematology Oncology Executive to deliver top decile clinical outcomes and experience across the System and continuum of care. Collaborates with Executive Director, Market Executives, Program, and JPE Executives in partnership with Medical Leadership to advance national standing in USNWR rankings. Foster the balanced integration of community and academic provider groups and assure seamless, highly coordinated - concierge level service to patients, families, and referring providers. Develop, trend, and report key performance measures across all sub-specialty services and drive necessary improvement. Lead financial planning and stewardship for the CCBD, nurture internal and external strategic partnerships, and collaborate effectively with all partners and consumers of CCBD services. Oversee resource deployment across the various strategic tactics and ensure key stakeholder alignment. Assure Hematology and Oncology compliance with all regulatory, accreditation, and Magnet requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Strategic Management: Oversee and lead in partnership with Executive Director for the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders (CCBD), Market Executives, and Medical and Operational Leaders to provide vision, leadership, organization, and overall direction for the CCBD. Identifies and lead development of new clinical programs consistent with service line strategy and goals. Lead and develop service line business plans and programs, conduct analyses, and negotiates terms with SVP of Clinical Programs, Market and JPE Executive leadership, as required to advance strategic aims. Represent the CCBD on Market, JPE, and System Committees as required. Leverage knowledge and expertise to effectively lead all operational and business activities including quality, experience, survey performance, growth, and regulatory and accreditation readiness. Serve as the primary executive partner with Marketing to design, develop, and distribute, through multimodal avenues, key messaging regarding differentiated programs and services provided in the region. Assure programs and services are readily available and sufficient to meet demand. Partners with the Executive Director to represent CCBD on local, regional, and national platforms.
- Program Management: Collaborate with Market, System, and JPE Executives to assure tactical plan to support program growth and exceptional patient-centered experience. Responsible for programmatic goals to improve quality outcomes, standardize clinical pathways, reduce unnecessary clinical variation, and improve coordination across the continuum. Set vision for patient and stakeholder experience across key tactics. Lead within a highly matrixed organization and interface with corporate leadership including but not limited to Market (Dallas & Plano) and System Executives, Physician Practice leaders, Strategy & Business Development, Finance, Marketing/Communications, and Human Resources. Role will have focus on strategic planning to drive growth, financial stewardship, quality/outcomes and experience.
- Quality and Experience: Establishes the necessary infrastructure to deliver efficient, high-quality, care and experience across the entire portfolio of services in the CCBD. Extensive experience with benchmark measures to improve efficiency and to critically evaluate and analyze quality of care and services provided. Provide regular updates to organizational and system committees regarding performance and actions to improve care delivery, outcomes, and experience. Assure care is seamless and highly coordinated across all clinical areas. Assure all areas meet regulatory, accreditation, compliance, and Magnet requirements.
- Financial Stewardship: Lead and oversee fiscal activities and performance of the Hematology and Oncology department. Oversee and enforce accounting and financial management policies and procedures. Prepare, implement, and monitor an annual operating budget; skillfully forecast CCBD revenue and expense streams. Collaborate with SVP Clinical Programs, Market and JPE Executives regarding resource planning, and deployment to enhance or develop new programs. . Partners with operational executives and service line leaders to gain efficiencies across all systems and sites of care.
- At least 10 years experience in clinical practice with progressive administrative experience in healthcare, business, and/or university environment required
- Experience working with not-for-profit boards and physician leadership in the nonprofit sector required
- Demonstrated leadership experience driving strategic and business planning, financial and operational performance required
- Experience with academic and community partnership models required
- Experience in program and business development, quality improvement, and patient experience strongly preferred
- Graduate or professional work or advanced degree; or equivalent experience required
