OVERVIEW OF THE VICE PRESIDENT:

The Vice President of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging (“VP of DEIB”) leads the organization's initiatives to advance Trillium’s value of an inclusive and equitable workplace. The VP of DEIB will bring their knowledge, lived experiences, and cultural background to this role. This leader will share Trillium’s deep commitment to diversity and inclusion and will help advance practices, strategies, and behaviors that promote equitable outcomes for all.

Salary range for Vice President of DEIB: $100,000-$120,000.00

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THE VP OF DEIB:

· Use systems thinking to address racial, structural, institutional, and systemic inequities.

· Identify opportunities and, in partnership with others, develop cohesive strategies, tools, processes, and programs that advance equity; coaching, guiding, and consulting with internal stakeholders and their staff.

· Partner with Trillium staff to craft equitable strategies and policy changes that increase workforce diversity and retention at all levels of the organization.

· Develop an environment of engagement, mutual understanding, and transparency.

· Cultivate a trauma-informed culture of inclusive leadership and psychological safety.

· Oversee diversity aspects of key community outreach programs and initiatives, such as Keep Oregon Well, Mental Health Heroes, etc.

  • Identify and implement new opportunities to strengthen the organization’s connection to DEIB.
  • Build and grow relationships with a range of local and national DEI organizations and professional development organizations within the community.
  • Assist the leadership team in championing sustainability DEIB initiatives.
  • Effectively track and communicate the organization’s DEIB impact.
  • Serve as an advocate, mentor, and resource for concerns and issues related to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Partner with the Communications department to deliver DEI initiatives and messaging to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assist with advising the DEI employee committee.

EXPERT LEADERSHIP OF THE VP OF DEIB:

  • Offer personal interest and commitment to working in a diverse and inclusive work environment with a high equity value.
  • Participate in promoting a positive workplace culture of collaboration, innovation, and respect.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to establish effective working relationships in a multicultural, multi-ethnic environment.
  • Engage in equity training and serve in related workgroups as needed.
  • Lead with an equity lens that includes promoting and ensuring organization-wide accountability for DEIB.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE OF THE VP OF DEIB:

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build collaborative relationships with a broad range of diverse individuals and groups in our community.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage in diverse communities, and serve as a convener, coalition builder, and thought leader.
  • Cultivate inclusive leadership while serving as s trusted advisor.
  • Must maintain current knowledge of all developments and best practices specific to diversity, equity, and inclusion education.
  • Prior experience in identifying and implementing best practices of diversity and inclusion.
  • An excellent command of current diversity and inclusion concepts and issues.
  • Management experience with a critical understanding of context, culture, and policy within institutions that impact the implementation of effective diversity change efforts.
  • Conflict resolution and other dispute resolution systems, mediation techniques experience.
  • Excellent written, verbal, critical thinking, and presentation skills.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE OF THE VP OF DEIB:

· Bachelor’s degree in the social sciences, healthcare, human resources, business, public administration, or related disciplines, or equivalent experience required.

· Minimum of 5-8 years of experience in Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion or Accessibility and Belonging.

· At least 4-5 years of project coordination or supervisory experience.

· Proven knowledge of working with and/or speaking on behalf of marginalized peoples or groups.
