VIDEO OPERATOR (SESSION HIRE)
The Legislative Counsel Bureau (LCB) is seeking qualified candidates to fill a temporary, full- time, Video Operator position. The LCB is a nonpartisan agency that provides professional, technical, and administrative support to the Nevada Legislature. This position involves working within a highly professional environment with Legislators, LCB and legislative staff. The Video Operator may also interact with persons from other state agencies and members of the public who visit the Legislative Counsel Bureau Offices in Las Vegas.
Position Description: The Video Operator is a temporary position for the 2023 Legislative Session and will begin on or after January 2, 2023 and end on or before June 30, 2023. This position is responsible for providing camera operation and audio/video conferencing services for legislative meetings, as well as setting up committee rooms, providing operational support of audio/video equipment, and performing general office assistance as needed.
Further, the Video Operator will also:
- Operate and monitor all equipment responsible to produce live coverage of proceedings for the Nevada Legislature from a central control room;
- Set up rooms for hearings, including video projectors, laptops, and digital recording software;
- Work under the direction of Broadcast and Production Services Unit staff to troubleshoot video conferencing equipment and perform routine repair and maintenance of general audio/video equipment such as microphones and cameras;
- Set up and initiate cloud-based video conferencing calls as needed;
- Monitor and manage calls throughout the duration of the broadcast meetings by performing technical tasks showcasing participants for the successful production of the event; and
- Perform other duties as required.
Location: The offices of the LCB are mostly based in Carson City, Nevada, but the LCB also maintains offices in the Grant Sawyer Office Building in Las Vegas, Nevada. This position is based in the Grant Sawyer Office Building in Las Vegas.
Salary and Benefits: The salary for this position is based on a Grade 27, which has a salary range of approximately $17.80 to $25.93 per hour based upon the employee/employer retirement option.
The actual starting salary will be determined based upon experience. Employees receive the same benefits available to state employees generally, which includes paid annual leave, paid sick leave, health insurance and retirement benefits. Knowledge and Skills Required: The ideal applicant will have successful experience in customer service, plus a well-rounded and broad technological skill set that includes any number of the skills listed below.
- Basic computer and software applications, including instant messaging, electronic mail, video chat, word processing, spreadsheets, slide presentations, internal calendar programs, and Internet research;
- Various programs associated with managing audio and visual media files;
- Phone and online communication etiquette;
- Excellence in customer service.

Qualifications: The successful applicant will have a high school diploma, general education development (GED) credential, or equivalent experience; basic computer software applications including Microsoft Office and Windows operating systems; and the physical ability to perform all essential functions of the job with or without basic accommodations. Experience operating video conferencing equipment is preferred, but not required.
Working Environment: Work is performed in a typical office environment and requires extended hours during the legislative session, including weekends and evenings; long periods of sitting watching computer/TV monitors; and sharing office space.
It is important that the candidate understands that the LCB works in a legislative cycle comprising 120 days of session that occurs every two years with the period in between being called the
“interim.” During the Interim, extended hours of overtime may be expected for preparation of the next Legislative Session. During session, extended hours of overtime are expected and a flexible schedule is required to allow the LCB to provide high customer service to the Nevada Legislature.
