Job Description:

The Job Coach works with individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities that are seeking job training, job development, job placement, and support during employment. In general, vocational staff works throughout the front range as needed. At this time we are hoping to build our participant caseload in the greater Denver area with some outliers in Boulder County and Aurora. Those applicants who are bilingual or fluent in ASL can expect higher starting pay.

Job Responsibilities

As a Job Coach with Soul Dogs, Inc your mission is to enhance the lives of individuals with I/DD by finding and supporting long-term employment within their community. The responsibilities and skills needed are, but not limited to:

• Written documentation of client meetings/interactions using Therap and various in-house tracking forms
• Continually developing knowledge of participant strengths, challenges, preferences, abilities, talents, goals to find proper Competitive Integrated Employment opportunities
• Create and maintain relationships with employers throughout the front range to ensure smooth transitions into employment for current and future participants
• Preparing participants for employment through one-on-one experiences in the community such as job shadowing, site visits, or volunteer experiences
• Teaching I/DD participants concepts such as compliance, attendance, hygiene, task completion, problem solving, appropriate communication, safety expectations, simple budgeting, etc
• Potential work on weekends, holidays, evenings, mornings, etc depending on the needs of the participant
• Attend service plan meetings, Inter Disciplinary Team (IDT) meetings, and other participant meetings as needed
• Use of personal vehicle, phone, and computer for completion of job related tasks as needed (mileage reimbursement available)

Requirements:

• Clear Criminal Records Check
• Exceptional communication, compassion, and patience
• Demonstrated ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality, set firm boundaries, listen carefully, interpret accurately, respond to a high volume of requests, and follow through
• Knowledge of and sensitivity to cultural differences
• Basic knowledge of business markets in Colorado
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Initiative and flexibility
• Strong project/time management & organizational skills; detail oriented
• Knowledge of local workforce resources and ability to develop solid working relationships with employers in the community, and the employers of our participants
• Experience in vocational training, job development, supported employment / job coaching preferred
• Completion of provided Soul Dogs, Inc. trainings and competency tests
• A passion for the work that we do
• A reliable vehicle, mobile device, and personal laptop/desktop (for entering notes)

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $24.00 - $26.00 per hour

• High school or equivalent (Preferred)

Experience:

• Job Coaching / Supported Employment / Occupational Therapy: 1 year (Preferred)
• Developmental disabilities experience: 1 year (Preferred)

Language:

• Spanish (Preferred)
• American Sign Language (Preferred)

License/Certification:

• Driver's License (Required)

Willingness to travel:

• 25% (Preferred)
