Job description
The Vocational and Programming Assistant is a part-time position specialized position. This position collaborates with the SISU team to engage with youth ages 14-24 and facilitate outcome-driven programming and projects. The position provides a great opportunity for a person looking to make a difference in the community. By helping to enrich the lives of SISU participants, this individual will contribute to reducing crime, increasing employment opportunities, and fostering positive social-emotional development within the population we serve.
Responsibilities:
- Work with SISU staff to create and execute on-site programming including workforce development, life skills, social-emotional growth, etc.
- Support SWAG (SISU Women’s Advocacy Group) programming
- Provide cosmetology and braiding services for SISU clients onsite in the SISU CUTZ Barber Shop
- Update client records within the organization’s data management systems
- Support youth accountability measures, including participation in restorative justice practices
- Attend staff meetings, professional development and program activities as directed
- All other duties assigned
Qualifications
- Minimum High School Diploma or Equivalent,
- Valid Massachusetts Cosmetology Licensure
- Understanding of urban culture and proven-risk youth preferred
- Strong comfort level in approaching youth at different levels of social-emotional growth
- Ability to work sensitively and effectively in a multicultural setting
- Comfort working within a team-oriented, professional environment
- Valid driver’s license and has own transportation
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred
- Available to work a flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends if necessary

Salary Range: Non-exempt - $25/hour
