At PCS Mental Health, it's our mission to enable individual persons who have serious mental illness, co-occurring substance use disorder and/or a dual diagnoses of SMI and IDD live a life that is meaningful to her or him in the community on terms she/he defines.

Position Overview:

Our Vocational Rehabilitation Specialist will develop, implement, and report training/treatment plan for assigned members and participate in crisis management system, program activities and supervision. This position reports directly to the Community Director.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Develop and or utilize established curriculum for Vocational Education Workshops.
  • Provide group vocational education for all program members. Provide individual training/counseling for individual members.
  • Involve families as needed regarding individual vocational and educational goals for individual members.
  • Prepare Group notes within 48 hours for weekly Vocational Groups.
  • Prepare individual DAP notes for members when individual meetings occur.
  • Attend Team meetings and staff meetings as needed to support member goals.
  • Provide vocational and educational resources and support to Psychiatric Rehabilitation Counselors throughout Project Transition. Create and disperse a Vocational/Educational newsletter for the purposes of education, validation of members and staff and providing resources. Distribution a minimum of bimonthly.
  • Strive for excellence and continuous quality improvement of a strength based vocational/educational program component based on metrics and outcomes.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work or related fields, two years’ experience in therapeutic community and/or psychiatric care.
  • Vocational Rehabilitation training and/or experience preferred.
  • Persons having a Master’s Degree may have one year of experience.
