Volunteer Coordinator

The Volunteer Coordinator will lead and grow the volunteer and intern programs at NVCS. The coordinator will be responsible for strategizing, executing, and managing the volunteer department through the creation of new and volunteer-related opportunities and events. The coordinator will be tasked with enhancing the volunteer program, managing the volunteer database, cultivating volunteers, and streamlining the process. The coordinator will also be one of the main faces of the agency and will coordinate multiple projects simultaneously. This role will be an essential part of NVCS and will have the opportunity to work with various departments and execute new ideas.

Essential Duties:

• Recruit, screen, orient, train, support, and supervise volunteer and intern placements.
• Collaborate and support NVCS’s different departments to place volunteers and run an effective program.
• Manage the volunteer database, ensure volunteers are using the database, run reports, and provide technical assistance to volunteers and staff.
• Send communication to volunteers, keep accurate and appropriate documents, records of service and oversee showcasing volunteer work on social media.
• Develop and implement volunteer policies such as volunteer tiers, procedures, and appreciation events.
• Work in partnership with the Director of Development to upgrade volunteers to become donors, assist with development activities related to volunteers, and partner on projects.
• Represent the agency in meetings with the external community, assist with community planning/execution, and be able to relay the importance of NVCS work.
• Participate in agency and community meetings as designated by the supervisor
• Additional tasks, projects, and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications:

• 2 years of experience providing community connections, case management, and/or .
• Excellent personal, communication, and writing skills.
• Ability to authentically build strong working relationships with people of diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds to meet clients and the community where they are at.
• Experience overseeing volunteers, events and understands the community landscape
• Strong Computer skills; able to effectively use a computerized database for volunteer files, and basic skills in Microsoft Word, Gmail, Excel programs, etc.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred or AA degree and at least 3 years experience in the non- profit field.
• Bilingual: Spanish/English preferred. Able to work with a Spanish-speaking population.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• Must be vaccinated against COVID-19.
• Strong experience working within team environments and ability to collaborate.
• Ability to juggle multiple projects and deadlines, thrive on problem-solving and challenges.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $22.00 - $24.00 per hour

License/Certification:

• Driver's License (Required)
