You know how to maximize resources, technology, relationships, and communication strategies to organize volunteer recruitment, training, and retention efforts. If this describes you, read more about what you will do as the Volunteer Manager We are looking for managing the volunteer program including the process from recruitment to retention; ensuring adequate and engaged volunteer resources; and building and maintaining strong relationships with the external community

Manages People

You will supervise volunteer program staff by providing timely feedback, guidance, and setting a vision for volunteer program staff. You will work closely with program staff members to understand program trends, future volunteer needs, and communicate metrics which measure recruitment and retention. You will actively engage with Free Arts volunteers throughout their recruitment, screening, orientation, and training to serve at Free Arts. Together with members of the program team, you will provide ongoing support to all volunteers with the goal of maximizing program impact and volunteer retention. Planning and Organizing

You will set clear goals for projects and events and develop systems to track information and progress. You will use your experience and training with CRM software i.e. Salesforce to enter, track, and report relevant data on volunteer efforts. You will be responsible for researching and developing relationships that will generate volunteers and volunteer opportunities that match agency priorities. You will manage the corporate volunteer program at Free Arts. Together with the Volunteer coordinator, you will organize volunteer orientation and training programs on an ongoing basis. You will organize training spaces, presenters, and deliver components of the volunteer training. Together with program leadership, you will plan and implement retention and rewards activities

In this role, you will regularly identify opportunities and needs and take appropriate action. You will have to make decisions when time is critical. As needed, you will approach others with tact to address sensitive issues and elevate issues to program leadership depending on the circumstances.

Salary & Benefits

Free Arts utilizes a comprehensive salary and benefits package to support employees with fair wages that is equitable in our sector, where our employees live, and in our economy.

  • Starting salary for this position is $56,000.00

Employee Insurance

We ensure our employees have access to health coverage by fully paying the cost of each employee’s health, dental, and AD&D monthly premiums for full-time staff members on our base plans, a value up to $7,215 annually*. Dependent(s) and spouse or domestic partner can all be added at staff member’s expense. Coverage starts on the first of the month following 60 days of employment. We also offer additional insurance products that each employee can choose to purchase to meet their personal needs.

Telework is only available within the Free Arts service area, currently Maricopa County and surrounding areas.


Time Off

Taking time off is important and having access to paid time off to support your needs is a priority to Free Arts. We support these needs with:

  • Vacation: 12 days a year, accrued one day a month, with accrual rate increases after each two years of service
  • Sick time: 12 days a year, accrued one day a month
  • Sabbatical: A three-week, unpaid sabbatical can be requested after ten (10) continual years of fulltime employment
  • Holidays: 13 paid holidays recognized each year
  • No Meeting Days - We identify additional days recognized as holidays or significant/special days to allow staff to use their vacation time without the fear of missing important meetings or connections. Examples include Yom Kippur, Election Day, and Winter Solstice.
  • Rate based on a 12-month billing cycle, actual amount based on several factors including start date, cost of AD&D plan, and employer contributions at that time. A comprehensive guide and further details are available upon request.
Requirements:
  • Three years of professional supervisory experience and working with volunteers.
  • Demonstrated success managing volunteer services including recruiting, managing, developing, and retaining volunteers; using CRM software (such as Salesforce Nonprofit Success Pack or similar nonprofit CRM).
  • Demonstrated commitment to the values of diversity, inclusiveness, and equity.
  • Ability to use Microsoft applications at a proficient to advanced level.
  • Must be able to have access to and provide reliable transportation for self. An AZ driver’s license and proof of insurance is required for qualifying mileage reimbursements.
  • Must obtain and hold an Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) Fingerprint Clearance Card before starting employment.

Preferred Qualifications

The following experience and skills, in addition to the years of experience listed above, are highly desirable:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement adult learning modalities.
  • Ability to read and write in Spanish.
  • Proficiency and experience with CRM software Salesforce Nonprofit Success Pack or similar nonprofit CRM.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 75% of the time using a computer.
  • Must be able to identify and assess written materials including fine print.
  • Must be able to position self to maintain files, supplies, document boxes, and other materials up to 10 pounds as needed.
  • This person frequently interacts with staff, board members, funders, and constituents about the programs and services of Free Arts at an executive level. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.

Environmental Requirements

  • Must be able to regularly work in a well-lit, temperature-controlled work area.
  • Must be able to work a mix of weekdays and weekends.
  • Must be able to work in an open area with other employees and volunteers 80% of the time.
  • Must be able to have access to and provide reliable transportation for self. An AZ driver’s license and proof of insurance is required for qualifying mileage reimbursements.
