GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Our mission at the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (TxDMV) is to serve, protect and advance the citizens and industries in the state with quality motor vehicle related services. We are a dynamic state agency dedicated to customer service, consumer protection and the success of motor vehicle-related industries.
Provides advanced (senior-level) customer service and technical assistance for vehicle titles and registration activities in the Title Control Systems Section of the Vehicle Titles and Registration Division. Work involves handling confidential and sensitive correspondence and communications regarding compliance with State and Federal vehicle titles and registration laws, rules and regulations. Work requires contact with governmental agencies and extensive contact with the public. Employees at this level are virtually self-supervising and assume direct accountability for the work product.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Processes applications for vehicle titles and registrations which require special expertise or additional research.
Examines court documents, foreign evidence and seizure papers pertaining to title transfers.
Provides staff with information and assistance to resolve elevated customer service issues.
Makes complex decisions based on interactive inquiries and dialog with appropriate titles and registration software applications.
Researches and analyzes manuals, regulations, and laws to ensure compliance with established procedures and resolves problems.
Assists in the development of administrative practices or operating procedures and guidelines.
Data enters information in the appropriate databases to generate correspondence and capture, store and track activity.
Reviews and modifies motor vehicle records to process, distribute or respond to a high volume of internal/external customer inquiries.
Provides information and assistance pertaining to vehicle title and registration procedures, laws, rules and/or regulations; refers customers to appropriate source for unusual problems or questions; processes special applications and reports.
In the division headquarters, acts as a liaison with other work units, offices, and agencies.
Processes and resolves problems with imaging items returned or rejected by the imaging vendor; verifies receipt of merchandise invoiced and frequently collects, delivers, or moves boxes, mail, files, freight, records, or other items weighing up to 50 lbs. each.
Interprets and clarifies rules, regulations, policies, and procedures concerning vehicle titling programs and procedures.
Monitors and maintains activity logs, files, and title inventory and reports on services or supply levels. May assists in the development of training materials and/or conduct training on customer service, or unit operations to explain, educate and provide technical assistance on the specifics and requirements for vehicle titles.
Assists in comprehensive reviews of literature, statutes, rules, bulletins, manuals, publications and/or policies.
Performs User Acceptance Testing of the Registration and Title System and/or other related programs to ensure system performance meets expectations prior to release and implementation.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
MARGINAL DUTIES
May be required to lift and carry boxes of paper and/or license plates weighing up to 50 lbs.
May be required to stand for short periods of time to make copies/faxes etc.
May be required to kneel for short periods of time to replace printing ink cartridges.
May require walking short distances to and from copier, fax, and to retrieve inventory.

Job offer and continuation of employment is contingent upon:

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education and Experience
Graduation from high school or equivalent plus six (6) years’ experience in a high-volume customer service, data entry/management, auditing, or general office administration environment. Education and experience may be substituted for one another. (Experience requirements may be satisfied by full-time experience or the prorated part-time equivalent.)
