The Wake Forest Center for Biomedical Informatics (WFBMI) and the CTSI are involved in developing novel informatics tools to aid researchers. This WFBMI Coordinator position will work with the WFBMI director, programming staff and other WFBMI staff members to support the day-to-day operational needs and goals of the Center.

The Wake Forest Center for Biomedical Informatics Coordinator will primarily be responsible for:

  • Event planning for multiple workshops, seminars, courses, and talks, as well as an annual colloquium
  • Plan and administer multiple monthly meetings, including setting agendas, taking and distributing minutes, and following up with action items
  • Provide scheduling and administrative support to the WFBMI director, and administrative assistance as needed to WFBMI core faculty
  • Handle all logistics for site visits including faculty interviews and guest speakers
  • Coordinate multiple complementary informatics internship programs
  • Manage WFBMI communications including monitoring the WFBMI email account, writing quarterly newsletters, and managing WFBMI’s social media presence (Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, etc)
  • Administratively support recruitment, hiring, and the distribution of awards
  • Create slides and assist in gathering information for grants and reports

MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline (such as communications, business administration, or marketing), or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Three years of relevant administrative experience in research projects or centers, or other health-related activities, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

ADDITIONAL DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Experience beyond the minimum

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Demonstrates knowledge of scientific principles
  • Strong people skills, is organized and proactive in assessing needs and opportunities for improvement
  • Familiarity with health communication and program administration is a plus

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Responsible for the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of certain phases of the assigned project(s). Translates planning and design decisions into concrete activities and tasks to be undertaken and set priorities as appropriate.
  • Responsible for the administration and coordination of various aspects of the program.
  • Develops reporting procedures and provides progress reports.
  • Develops and documents quality control monitoring procedures and standards.
  • Represents the program to all related community agencies and organizations, serving as the study's liaison, spokesperson, and representative.
  • Establishes and maintain separate billing files on specific accounts related to individual departments/sections during the course of the program.
  • Orders and maintains adequate supplies for the program.
  • Performs other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
