Job Title: Materials Area Manager

Reports To: Material Manager

Location: Laurinburg Department: Materials

Employees Supervised: 4 salaried, 66 Hourly

Primary Duties:

• Adherence to our Key Safety Leadership Behaviors
• Accountable for the deliveries of goods to internal, external, domestic, and export customers
• Responsible for the People, Process, and Equipment in the Materials Area (Shipping, Warehousing) to ensure the area is operated safely at optimum efficiency and effectiveness
• Direct Reports:
• Material Process Engineer (x2)
• Shipping Clerks (x2)
• Materials Assistants (x1)
• Coordinators (x7)
• Direct and coordinate continuous improvement activities utilizing data driven problem solving techniques (i.e. 8D, 5-Why)
• Champion Lean Manufacturing Processes – 5S, Lean Manufacturing, Quick Kaizens, Kanban, Problem Solving, Six Sigma, ME 360, GEMBA Walks
• Establishes relationships and resolves all transportation issues with customers
• Utilizes “Logistical Partnership Agreements” and communicates with sister facilities / customers, to ensure proper documentation of shipments
• Utilize SAP on daily shipments/reports and inventory
• Work with planning/scheduling on upcoming glass requirements
• Develop operational philosophies, specifications for finished product and process equipment, SOPs, control plans, FMEA’s, and HAZOPs as needed
• Constant communication with customers to assist in resolving issues
• Adherence to the NSG/Pilkington Standards of Business Conduct and its’ Values and Principles

Qualifications Required:

• BS/BBA or equivalent work experience
• Good Communication Skills
• Excellent Problem Solving Skills
• Strong transportation experience, international and domestic
• Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word and Power Point
• Ability to work independently. Strong Analytical Skills
• Well developed interpersonal, verbal and writing skills

Qualifications Desired:

• Experience with SAP
• Manufacturing experience
• Green or Black Belt Certification
