General Description of Work
Assemble and receive outgoing and incoming truck shipments and verify correctness of shipments against bills of lading, shipping orders, or other records. Sign for incoming goods and materials, stamp delivery receipts and sign gate passes. Sort packages according to immediate requirements and procure required goods as needed from shipping area. Warehouse tires in designated locations as required. Load and unload items onto and off of hand trucks and company trucks. Assist driver in loading commercial carrier as required. Mutilate scrap experimental tires by designated means.
Transporting Goods: Transport tires, sections of tires, and various miscellaneous other materials to or from development, processing or engineering areas as requested. Remove scrap materials to designated scrap shipping areas and deposit in proper containers. Pick-up or deliver tires, sections of tires and various miscellaneous materials to Bridgestone facilities, bus terminal, airport, or other locations as requested using a pickup truck, van or straight truck.
Clerical: Record hours to complete assignments. Record units where applicable. Write up Bridgestone delivery orders for interplant transfer of materials. Maintain records of transactions. Maintain active inventory of material in assigned work or storage area. Prepare legible reports.
Maintenance: Perform minor maintenance on equipment operated per individual station requirements. Keep assigned work area neat and orderly. Perform miscellaneous duties related to trucks, such as, but not limited to, checking oil, radiator fluid levels and fuel levels. Check fork truck fluid levels, change propane tanks where applicable. Fill batteries with water and recharge battery-powered tucks as needed.
Tire Labeling and Barcoding: Print labels, when required, and apply labels to incoming tires. Print barcodes if required and apply them to incoming tires. Scan barcodes at appropriate locations as they move through the warehouse.
Miscellaneous Assignments: May be assigned to part or full-time work for a specific engineer or group of engineers. Perform other typical duties consistent with job factors as required, or that may be requested by supervision or tire development personnel. May need to participate in operational tasks and operate technological aids such as computers.
Equipment and Tools: (Personal tools required, if any.) Barcode scanners, weigh scales, chain blocks, power band saws, air equipment, bead cutters, grinding wheel dresser and lubricating devices, power operated trucks, and company vehicles. Knives, cleaning solvents and various hand tools or supplies necessary to accomplish specific assigned operations.
Safety Requirements: Observe all applicable safety rules to avoid accidents. Must be MEO certified. Exercise care when operating power trucks and wear proper PPE when operating saws, grinders, buffers and filers, etc. Must follow all safety requirements required by the job being done.
Physical Activities and Working Conditions: Bending, carrying, walking, standing, turning, handling, sitting, hearing, lifting, fingering, climbing, feeling, pushing, pulling, reaching and stooping. Job requires normal vision, walking speed and depth perception. Occasional exposure to fumes and various factory conditions such as dirt, dust, odors and mechanical hazards. Some work is confining, greasy, dirty and performed in the presence of high temperature and mechanical hazards. Handles tires and equipment up to 75 pounds.
Comments. Must have valid Ohio Vehicle Drivers License and MEO approval. Must possess good reading and writing skills.
Minimum Qualifications
Typically requires a high school degree; or 1-2 year vocational training / associates degree
