Position Summary:
The function of the equipment operator will be to perform all assigned duties safely while operating a forklift/highlift
Essential Duties, Functions and responsibilities:
Follows all work safety policies and guidelines
Observes equipment operation, notifying appropriate personnel of any malfunctions and /or safety issues/concerns
Adheres to all USDA and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) product standards and guidelines
Maintains a clean and organized area
Performs other duties as assigned
Accountable to maintain punctual and regular attendance for scheduled work hours
Maintain acceptable loading and unloading times of inbound and outbound trucks
Maintain accurate inventories of items
Communicate with QA and USDA as needed
Communicate with drivers and Team Coordinators when needed
Perform forklift check sheets on daily basis
Receive bills from drivers and place on dock doors for loading as needed
Load and unload trucks in a timely and safe manner with no damage to product or truck
Complete all paperwork accurately and legibly
Wrap pallets using stretch wrap machines accurately and efficiently
Place product in correct rack in a timely and safe manner with no damage to product or rack
Be able to work in an area with foot traffic and other material handling traffic in a safe manner
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Minimum 6 months forklift/highlift experience preferred
Ability to work in a fast paced environment
Ability to communicate effectively and follow verbal and written instructions
Must be willing and able to perform physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
Must be at least 18 years of age and legally authorized to work in the United States
Must pass a background check, drug screen
Must be able to read and write
Need to be familiar in SPC, HACCP, GMP’S, SSOP’S and USDA
Have knowledge of FGI system and be able to use FGI scan guns efficiently
Be able to trouble shoot issues with FGI scan guns
Be able to read Bill of Ladings
Product knowledge and process knowledge
Ability to read and understand a packaging schedule
Ability to read Z out report for daily shipping schedules
Ability to drive a forklift swiftly and safely in congested areas
Ability to use and control dock locks and levelers efficiently
Ability to complete daily paperwork as required and turn in to the proper departments
Ability to communicate with Team Lead and Supervisor in the area about issues
Physical Requirements:
Frequent standing and walking in cold shipping cooler for duration of shift
Lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling (up to and including 50lbs or more)
Getting off and on forklifts to open doors to remove paperwork from pallets constantly throughout day
Reaching overhead
Reaching below knees
Ability to multitask
Completing required paperwork in timely manner
Using material handling equipment as needed
Working Conditions/Department Description:
Work in cold environment for entire shift
Work with loud and noisy machinery as needed
Work in dusty environment when using spice as needed
Go in and out of different climates throughout day
Work in congested areas as needed
