Job Title: Wastewater Operator Trainee

Department: Wastewater Treatment Plants
Reports To: Wastewater Treatment Manager
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt-$12.53

General Definition of work:
Performs a variety of duties and responsibilities such as testing wastewater, may record wastewater flows and collect samples as required. Assists with the maintenance and repair of machinery and equipment.

Essential Job Functions, Duties and Responsibilities:

• Monitors chemical dosage to acquire proper wastewater quality results.
• Inspects and monitors plants equipment to maintain adequate operating conditions.
• Collects and tests wastewater samples according to TCEQ, EPA and District standards.
• Assists with minor/major repairs or replacement of wastewater plants equipment.
• Records operational data such as meter and gauge readings in a daily basis.
• Performs other related duties as assigned to enhance the overall operations and services of the Wastewater plants.
• Must adheres to all safety policies and procedures.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• Job requires a diploma from an accredited high school or GED equivalent.
• District may hire WW Treatment Trainee with no previous work experience.
• Must be able to obtain a Wastewater Class D within one year of employment and a

Wastewater Class C within two years of employment.

• Must possess a valid Texas Drivers Class C License.
• Must have basic computer and data entry skills
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds and pass a fit for duty physical examination.
