Job description
The Wastewater Treatment Operator is responsible for the proper and compliant operation at our customer site. In addition, this person is responsible for documentation, testing and cleaning of area basement.
Responsibilities/Duties:
- Perform batch treatment on any applicable wastewater processes.
- Perform start-up and shut down procedures.
- Ensure all water pollution control equipment associated with the wastewater pretreatment facility is in good operating condition.
- Perform hourly internal grab samples of wastewater effluent and analyze the sample.
- Perform hourly sampling and analysis for metals and cyanide.
- Sampling and analysis once per week for outfall and the weir and twice per week for cyanide (regulatory requirement).
- Record results of any sampling in daily log books.
- Perform hourly visual system checks and other daily inspection of the process equipment and area.
- Perform documented daily inspections of safety equipment, containment areas and all process equipment associated with the wastewater pretreatment operation.
- Respond and/or investigate all alarms associated with the wastewater pretreatment.
- Operate an ultra filtration unit as needed.
- Report any excursions, system upsets, etc. immediately to HS&E.
- Provide any re-engineering suggestions.
- Perform minor maintenance activities.
- Maintain Chrome Analyzers.
- Transferring of used coolant.
- Clean and inspect wastewater tanks.
- Track and order chemicals necessary to treat wastewaters.
- Design and implement process improvements.
- Create, revise, amend standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the wastewater treatment process.
- Provide qualification and training for operators.
- Monitor and support all facets of regulatory compliance including all local, state and federal regulations, EPA, ADEQ, DOT compliance. Report issues to site HSE staff.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry and/or preferred or significant documented waste water treatment experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of previous experience in wastewater treatment.
- Current and valid licenses.
- COP Certification required.
