Hi! I'm Neil Jacobson. My wife Denise and I need attendants to fill the following weekend shifts:

The shifts are Saturdays, 11:00 am – 3 pm. 3 pm – 7 pm, 7 pm – 11 pm; Sundays, 7 am – 11 am. Though the times are divided into four-hour paid shifts, the actual work times are typically Saturdays, 11:30 am - 2:30 pm. 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm. 10:00 pm - 11:00 pm; Sunday, 7:00 am - 8:30 am. We ask that our attendants are "on-call" for the paid hours when they're not with us and to be aware that there might be times during a shift when they might be asked to stick around; we'll give ample head-up time.

I am a retired Wells Fargo IT professional, and Denise is an author. We live in the lower Rockridge area of Oakland. We have cerebral palsy and are active in the community and the Disability Movement. We are featured in the award-winning Netflix documentary Crip Camp. Our attendants tell us that they like working with us.

In general, I need assistance with all activities of daily living, including showering, dressing, feeding, etc., and assistance transferring between the bed and wheelchair; he weighs about 120 lbs. Denise is more mobile but requires help showering and dressing. Our attendants also prepare meals and accompany us when we go out to visit family and friends, movies, theater, etc. We both have speech disabilities, so patience and picking up non-verbal cues are essential. We both have speech disabilities. The pay is $25/hr, and we will provide paid training.
