SUMMARY
Performs radiographic procedures to assist in a diagnosis of disease and injuries. The X-ray Technologist works effectively with patients and patients’ families and maintains a cooperative relationship with interdepartmental personnel by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES* include the following.*

• Ensures that all equipment is turned on.
• Directs patient to x-ray room.
• Processes patient x-ray orders in computer system.
• Performs radiographic procedures as prescribed by a physician.
• Determines proper technique through the selection of voltage, current, and exposure time.
• Positions patients for the proper view of the affected area.
• Instructs patients as to the proper physiological requirements for the procedure.
• Maintains technique charts in rooms in compliance with state law.
• Provides preventive maintenance to equipment and monitors its operation.
• Contacts nursing stations to verify patient schedules, medications and special requirements or restrictions.
• Charts patient medications and completes x-ray requests.
• Discusses radiological examination results with radiologist and physician.
• Ensures that any required consent forms are signed prior to examination.
• Maintains open channels of communication with other company departments.
• Contact radiologist when an emergency procedure needs to be performed.
• Keeps track of dosimeter.
• Ensures that equipment is working properly and reports equipment malfunction to appropriate company.
• Completes a “super bill” for all patients.
• Identifies and reports all incidents that occur in the work area.
• Ensures that supplies and equipment necessary for patient care are ordered and stored in an organized and efficient manner.

QUALIFICATIONS*
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be patient in dealing with an elderly population and sympathetic to hearing or vision deficiencies. Ability to work effectively in a team environment. Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

• Work time is approximate. Hours and days are changed according to company needs. All full-time employees are required to complete their 40 hours per week schedule.*

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
Active licensure from the State of Florida.
