Job Overview:

The Capital region is seeking a YoungLives Regional Coordinator to develop and sustain ministry to teenage mothers across the region. There is a long legacy of reaching teenage mothers in the region. The next Regional Coordinator will be a key team member who will partner with the Regional Director in leading staff and volunteers in the growth and health of YoungLives.

The Capital region team is positioned to impact the world by influencing the lives of kids from diverse backgrounds through sharing the Gospel and developing life-long followers of Jesus Christ.

Today, over 200 teenage mothers are being reached across the region. Our YoungLives ministries are also beginning to expand their outreach to reach teenage fathers as well.

There are eight YoungLives ministries across the region in Montgomery County, Washington D.C., Prince George’s County, Fairfax County, and Culpeper County. There are numerous opportunities for ministry expansion as the need and team continues to grow.

Key Job Priorities:

• Partner with Regional Director and Area Directors to recruit, train and support YoungLives staff and volunteer team leaders at the area level.
• Oversee and support YoungLives camping within region, including, but not limited to budgets, assignment teams, childcare, risk management, equipment, leader training, administration and other camp needs.
• Serve as a member of the regional leadership team and divisional YoungLives team.
• Impart vision for the YoungLives ministry in the region to current and potential donors.
• Help raise regional funds to support existing and new YoungLives ministries.
• Communicate regularly with Regional Director and Area Directors who oversee YoungLives ministries.
• Foster community among YoungLives staff and volunteer team leaders.
• Provide initial training tools to YoungLives start-up areas.
• Participate in a flagship YoungLives ministry.
• Raise a minimum of $30,000 in personal support.

Experiences:

• Minimum of 3 years on Young Life staff or equivalent ministry experience.
• Development and implementation of prior/current strategic plans.
• Prior ministry experience in under-resourced communities.
• Involvement in volunteer development and training.
• Coordination and execution of large events (ie. golf tournaments, camps and fundraising banquets).

• Desire and ability to recruit and develop diverse teams.
• Capacity to manage multiple projects.
• Strong emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to lead across a diverse set of communities (culturally and socioeconomically).
• This person should be an individual who is dependent on the Holy Spirit and prayerful in providing direction for staff and volunteers.
