Job Description

Summary:

Life science laboratories require advanced informatics and application solutions to operate effectively and efficiently. This role would be responsible for supporting scientist in the expert use of these systems. The right candidate would have laboratory experience and a background in supporting scientific applications to diagnose issues and manage the applications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide Level 2-3 support for hosted applications
  • Gather requirements from users for enhancements or patches
  • Install application enhancements
  • Manage application user lifecycle management
  • Perform unit testing
  • Work with software vendors for application troubleshooting
  • Coordinate with other support teams within the organization
  • Some off-hours support may be required to install application upgrades or monitor/verify OS
  • Patches or upgrades
  • Develop system design
  • Integrate applications with customer environment system
  • Writing and updating runbooks (procedures)
  • Develop and execute validation test scripts in GxP environment
  • Identifies and implements enhancements, upgrades and/or solutions to improve the overall
  • Support of the environment
  • Acts as client Liaison for software/hardware related inquiries
  • Participate in client team meetings Provides support across all PerkinElmer Enterprise practices as required
  • Act as the technical expert to handle escalations and be a mentor to junior team members
  • Provide back up to team leads as required
  • Ability to manage with minimal supervision to achieve objectives
  • Assist in generating data for regular governance reports

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Science or technology and 5+ years administration experience

OR

  • Associate Degree in Science or technology and 7+ years administration experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree preferred
  • Previous in-lab experience
  • Experience with scientific applications
  • Experience in Life Science environment

Other Requirements:

  • Must be able to remains in a stationary position more than 25% of the time
  • The person in this position needs to occasionally move inside and outside labs
  • Frequently operate on instruments, objects, tools or controls, which will require regularly bending, squatting, stretching and reaching in order to perform in a service function.
  • Regularly move or lift up to 25 pounds and occasionally move or lift up to 100 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required by this position include without limitation, the ability to observe details at close range (within a few feet of the instrument), distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus in order to perform the essential service functions of this position.
  • Occasionally operates a computer and other office machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer
