Duties and Responsibilities:

Under the direction of the Allied Health Program Director, the Practicum Coordinator/Subject Area Coordinator performs the functions listed below.

Practicum Coordinator:

To manage and oversee the medical assisting internship/practicum experience, he/she:

  • Selects and approves internship/practicum sites
  • Provides orientation for the on-site supervisors
  • Provides oversight of the practicum experience
  • Ensures appropriate and sufficient evaluation of student achievement in the practicum.
  • Administers all paperwork required for certification exams
  • Tracks internship hours

Teaching Performance

  • Teaches 3-4 courses per term, as deemed credentialed to teach.
  • Stay current in the subject matter through professional development; Learn and use technology to enhance teaching and the educational experience when appropriate.

Evaluation of Student Learning

  • Establish and follow meaningful learning objectives
  • Measure student progress and maintain accurate records of their progress
  • Evaluate student performance fairly and consistently

Support of College Policies and Procedures

Adhere to, uphold, and comply with all established operational policies and procedures (refer to the College Catalog)

Participation in College, Division, Department, and Program Activities
Serve on College committees, participate in meetings, graduation ceremonies, demonstrates strong interpersonal skills in communication with students, faculty and administrators.


Contribution to the Growth and Enhancement of College Mission and Programs

Other Duties as Assigned
Allied Health PD may assign other duties as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Qualified candidate will possess Master's degree in Allied Heath field and a current license in medical field.
  • Have some work experience in healthcare.
  • Strong technology and computer skills
  • Proven ability to function as a team member as well as coordinate and facilitate on-going learning and development relative to systems, processes, and strategic goals and objectives that are representative of both campus and system initiatives.
  • Strong time management, problem solving, conflict management, cultural diversity, analytic, adaptability, and creativity skills.

Working Conditions:

Typical office environment conditions such as sitting at a desk using a computer, keyboard, mouse and telephone; frequently traveling between two campuses and to clinical/internship sites; infrequently traveling out-of-town meetings; Occasional lifting or carrying up to 10lbs, along with twisting, bending at the waist or reaching overhead.
