In compliance with applicable State regulatory authorities, COVID-19 vaccination is mandatory for all MSK staff. Staff are considered fully vaccinated upon completion of a primary vaccination series for COVID-19 (i.e., one dose of a single dose vaccine or a final dose of a multi-dose vaccine series). Staff working at a MSK New Jersey location must be up to date with COVID-19 vaccination, which includes having completed the primary COVID-19 vaccination series and booster once eligible as mandated by New Jersey State. All New Jersey staff not yet eligible for a booster must receive a booster within 3 weeks of becoming eligible as a condition of continued employment at MSK.

The Integrated Genomics Operation (IGO) enables basic, clinical, and translational research projects across the Cancer Center. IGO implements the MSK mission to cure cancer by providing a broad range of genomic services and expertise to our world-class research scientists. We are a high efficiency core facility producing >100TB of data per year across >40 applications including “fourth generation” of genomics technologies such as single cell and spatial transcriptomics.
The Sample & Project Management (SPM) team at IGO is currently seeking a Project Assistant. The SPM team collaborates with investigators to ensure swift and accurate accessioning and quality control (QC) of all samples received by IGO. This includes assisting with iLab navigation, facilitating seamless sample webform submissions, ensuring smooth processing, and keeping investigators informed of updates.
As a Project Assistant, you will learn to!
- Perform QC of samples received by the SPM team.
- Evaluate QC results and troubleshoot as the need arises.
- Use the Lab Information Management System (LIMS) and iLab to track samples and experiments.
- Meticulously record experimental details.
- Communicate with investigators by providing updates on sample attrition and coordinating downstream efforts.
- Read scientific literature to develop a detailed understanding of your work.
- Actively participate in weekly meetings by taking notes for the team or preparing presentation if required.
- Ultimately be able to review sophisticated genomic project submissions and identify any issues or technical inaccuracies.
