Hayes Manufacturing is looking for a 2ndShift Lead at our Fife Lake, MI location. The lead assists with production oversite in assigned work area(s). You manufacture product, recommend improvement, problem-solve floor concerns, and provide mentorship and training where needed to ensure the product is manufactured successfully in accordance with company and customer specifications, while applying lean principles to all areas of responsibility. You will work 36 hours a week and be paid for 40. There is a $1/hour shift differential.

What You’ll Do:

• Ensure the team’s compliance with company and safety policies and procedures.
• Assist with ensuring all necessary documentation and resources are available to assist employees with their daily tasks.
• Recommend operational or process changes where needed for product or process workflow improvements.
• Assess risks on the production floor and communicate with appropriate departments.
• Resolve production problems while utilizing all available resources.
• Give and receive employee feedback on the floor through open communication.
• Assist the supervisor with team facilitation, ensuring team understands the production goals for their shift.
• Train employees, ensuring they have the resources and knowledge to perform their required tasks.
• Communicate and update Production/Operations/Area Manager on floor activity and seek guidance where necessary.

What You’ll Need:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong leadership skills. Ability to train, mentor, and assist with supervision of 5 - 20 employees per shift.
• Advanced knowledge of production, sheet metal fabrication, or shipping & receiving. Mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to perform hands-on work while providing guidance for production team.
• Strong computer skills and understanding of Manufacturing Operating Systems/Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Initiative and results-driven attitude.
• Strong ethical conduct.

What Helps:

• Technical certifications a plus.
• Minimum two years of supervisory or team lead experience preferred.
