As a member of the Additive Manufacturing team, you will program and operate the worlds most advanced large scale 3D printing machinery. Our team-oriented culture embraces continuous improvement and ensures operational and process excellence across the board. The Programmer / Operator provides and utilizes programs for 3D printing of engineered parts, forms, and tooling to be used in the production of engineered parts or assemblies. You will program (Slice) models, operate our large-scale 3D printing machines, utilize subtractive programming and operation to complete projects, and grow your abilities to program and operate additive equipment.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• 
  Create 3D solid and sliced model programs from customer supplied part models and specifications to support large scale 3D printing with polymer composite materials
• Design/build fixtures and/or set up jobs for assigned projects
• Generate machine set-up sheets and incorporate into shop planning
• Perform subtractive programming and machine operation as required per project
• Responsible for complete numerical control operation for printing tools, details and parts
• Trouble-shoot production, process, or mechanical problems on the floor
• Ensure that materials and equipment are identified in advance and are available when needed
• Post process programs and check/verify completed programs
• Ensure engineering, programming, printing, and planning functions are completed properly and on time
• Accurately close out completed jobs to support continuous improvement
• Optimize and improve the productivity and cost efficiency of repeat jobs
• Work closely with other departments to ensure success
• Participate in production meetings to report on the status of Engineering activities, highlight needs and issues, and participate in discussions regarding the business
• Ensure company processes and procedures are followed, and that appropriate documents and paperwork are completed on a timely basis
• Understand the company Quality Management System and ensure that all policies, procedures, and work instructions are followed
• Participate in evaluating the acquisition of new machines and equipment
• Ensure that work areas are safe, that safety policies and procedures are being followed, and that good standards of housekeeping are being followed
• Able to work varied shifts, overtime, and weekends when necessary
• Notify supervisor or manager of any potential safety hazards
• Perform other tasks and duties as required by management

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• 
  Proficiency in working with FFF/FDM slicing software, NC programming software and G Code (Mastercam preferred), GD&T, 3D CAD design and surfacing programs (Catia, Solidworks, NX)
• Seeks to be a master of your craft with excellent attention to detail.
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Knowledge of composite manufacturing and tool or mold making practices
• Detail Blueprint interpretation and geometric tolerancing capabilities
• 5-axis tool path generation knowledge for printing or cutting are a plus
• Prototype and one-off machining are a plus
• Experience in large format FDM 3D printing or polymer extrusion processes is a plus
• CMM programming experience a plus

QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS:

Required:

• Minimum of 3-5 years experience in programming, setting up and operating polymer-based 3D printing machines for parts, molds, or prototype components
• Minimum 5 years of writing NC programs in a printing or manufacturing environment
• High school diploma or GED

Preferred:

• Associates or other manufacturing degree or certifications a plus
