Position Summary:

Provide leadership and supervision of all fabrication personnel. Responsible for executing all fabrication production at Climatech. Achieving Fabrication Department goals. To coordinate the flow of production on all orders, from the time they are received through shipment. To ensure the quality and timely delivery of these orders, utilizing the resources available to manufacture the product in the most cost effective and efficient manner. To monitor and manage material yields as they are used in production. This includes coordination of new die development, planned maintenance and recruiting of necessary manpower.

Uses general hand tools to set up, run, troubleshoot and tear down fabrication presses and machinery. Uses a variety of measurement and inspection equipment to document and determine proper configuration and performance of our product. Picks punch outs from finished product. Packages, labels and palletizes finished product. General housekeeping.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

1.) Read, understand and follows instructions on the job traveler and process sheet.

2.) Capable of assembly and removal of dies from all presses, good mechanical aptitude. Ensures that all set-ups and teardowns are performed efficiently. Follow specific operating procedures, guidelines and instructions. Properly cleaning, protecting and storing of all fabrication tooling.

3.) Responsible for the quality of the product they produce. Attention to detail, quality conscious with the ability to differentiate between acceptable and unacceptable parts. Read blue prints, follow quality requirements, measuring parts with calipers, tape measure, fixtures and documenting the quality of product being produced. Ensuring that all products meet design specifications. Each product manufactured is to have a first article inspection done by either Quality Technician, the lead or assistant lead, after that it is the responsibility of the operator to do all in process inspections. Any non-conforming product should be brought to the attention of the Lead or Assistant Lead immediately. Accounting for the fall out parts in the yields.

4.) Accurately and thoroughly fill out all paperwork including maintenance work orders. Keeping accurate counts of product produced and packaged. Accurate documentation on traveler and data entry in M2M of the parts produced.

5.) Responsible for set-up inspection, in process inspections and a final visual inspection of the last part die cut, to verify that the die is in operable condition for the next run. Parts from each cavity are to be inspected. Any non-conformance found whether during set-up or in process should be brought to the attention of the Lead or Assistant Lead. Don’t only check for dimensional but also visual inspections verifying surface finish, product is clean and check for cut through on kiss cut product.

6.) Operate forklift as needed.

7.) Trains and assists new Technicians, takes responsibility for their position.

8.) Capable of setting up, running and troubleshooting 100% of all fabrication equipment independently, totally self-sufficient.

9.) Provide the leadership and supervision of all production personnel. Lay out the priorities and expectations to the operators and holding them accountable for the expectations. Ensure operations are performed by operators in a safe manner complying with all safety guarding, policies and rules. Responsible for the safety of our staff and safety record of the Fabrication Department.

Review production activities daily. Confront and eliminate excessive scrap, quality defects, excessive set-up and tear down and poor efficiency. Work with Production Manager and personnel to seek out and resolve primary causes to prevent recurrence of these issues.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to reach overhead, walk, climb, stand, bend, stoop, twisting, lifting, and carrying tooling, packages and materials weighing up to 50 lbs. Able to push and pull carted material weighing up to 1,800 lbs. Frequent mental and visual concentration required for reading prints and measurements.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $26.00 - $32.00 per hour
