Functional Pathways is hiring a full-time A/R Billing Specialist for our PEAK division at our corporate office in Knoxville, TN. The ideal candidate will be customer service focused with great communication skills and experience with medical billing and collections, and knowledge of billing regulations and compliance.
The A/R Billing Specialist is responsible for the timely completion of billing and collections for outpatient therapy. This includes auditing, claims submission, and outstanding claims follow-up. This position is also responsible for the timely processing of patient statements and assisting patients with their accounts.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Utilize software to audit patient accounts for required documentation prior to claims submission
• Generate claims and submit to Medicare, Managed Care, and other payor plans
• Process patient statements monthly
• Identify and follow up on outstanding claims monthly
• Document billing and follow up within patient account
• Recommend accounts for collections to Billing Manager and/or Director of Revenue
• Review remittance and EOBs for payment inconsistencies and errors
• Work with payor plans to resolve any inconsistencies and errors
• Assist patients with questions concerning their account
• Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Excellent communication skills
• Must be proficient in Excel, Word, and Microsoft Office
• Great customer service skills
• Ability to problem solve and critical thinking skills
• Ability to work independently, manage time, and set priorities
• Previous experience with medical billing and collections required
• Must have knowledge of billing regulations and compliance
