ANNOUNCEMENT: Southwestern Illinois College is accepting applications for the SWIC Educational Employee part-time position of Access Specialist.

POSITION DESCRIPTION: In accordance with the Mission and Values of Southwestern Illinois College, this is a responsible position which requires professional judgment and detailed work in a specialized disability services area. This part-time professional position requires handling confidential information, providing accommodations and support services for students with disabilities, as well as assisting with office functions. Flexibility in working hours is required, including evening hours and weekends.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Bachelor’s degree required; Master's degree in Education, Social Work, Counseling, Rehabilitation, Special Education or related field preferred.

2. Demonstrated experience serving persons with disabilities is strongly recommended.

3. Knowledge of disability laws is preferred.

4. Experience with group facilitation and familiarity with social service agencies is strongly recommended.

5. Knowledge of college operations is preferred.

6. Basic computer knowledge is required.

7. Strong written and oral communications skill are required.

STARTING SALARY: $24.02 per hour, up to 28 hours per week

WORK LOCATION: Belleville Campus with District-Wide responsibilities.
