Job Summary:

We manufacture seamless, welded, and cold-drawn steel tubing, tubular shapes, fabricated parts, component parts, and chrome plated bar, tube, and machined components. We are seeking a motivated, experienced, outgoing, and service-oriented Distribution sales professional to join our team and account for the sale of steel tubing products in our South-East sales region. This resource will help PTC penetrate and drive business at key Service Centers, leading to long-term high volume purchase contracts. The ideal candidate will be proficient at understanding customer requirements, aligning capabilities, and managing resources and expectations to meet corporate objectives. This position will be based out of Southeast with the optimal individual being in the Atlanta or Charlotte areas.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Follows a disciplined sales process for delivering consistent results that meet or exceed expectations
  • Develop, present, or respond to proposals for specific customer requirements, including requests for proposal responses and industry-specific solutions
  • Strengthen existing relationships with key clients, book meetings with prospects, and cultivate new client partnerships
  • Manage and lead client escalations and communication across the organization on needs, priorities, investments decisions and save efforts
  • Develop and implement long and short term sales strategies in line with corporate strategies
  • Recommend improved materials or machinery to customers, documenting how such changes will lower costs or increase production
  • Combine data analysis and client feedback to configure, operate and optimize campaigns to meet client objectives
  • Maintain the highest level of ethical standards
  • Perform other job-related duties as required by Sales management

The incumbent is expected to understand that all employees have a shared responsibility for the quality of products and related services provided to our customers. Duties and Responsibilities are to be carried out in accordance with the PTCA Quality Management System and its policies, procedures, and work instructions as applicable to the job or function being performed.

Minimum Education and/or Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferably in a technical or related field
  • 3 to 5 years of job-related experience or equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Technical background in the metals industry is a plus

  • Mathematical Skills: Reasonable business acumen to have the ability to build and manage pricing. Understand and manage various pricing mechanisms. Understand how gross on material differs from gross margin. In addition, familiarity with business growth levers including revenue, volume, share, opportunity cost, and return on investment calculations is needed.
  • Computer Skills: Must be computer literate and possess a good working knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Word and Excel. Must be able to learn and use various company software.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
