APEX is a 24X7, 365 day a year business that serves some of the most dynamic and demanding markets in the world such as refineries, petrochemical plants, and pipeline operations. The AR is responsible for an abundant amount of strategic and tactical tasks that support various business functions. This role is the front-line interface for substantial account interactions including, but not limited to, developing scopes of work, contract negotiations and securing nitrogen and hydrogen spot requirements.
This role will also support all of the existing APEX field Account Managers (AM) and have full responsibility for maintaining relationships, maximizing price opportunity, finding and securing new business and developing account plans for a specific subset of customers. The AR will have extensive collaborate with key customer contacts and handle substantial sales responsibility. The AR works cross functionally with other internal sales teams, Logistics, Engineering, Legal, and APEX Customer Service, Operations and Leadership to ensure that the customer base receives exceptional service. This is a vital role operating at the center of a high-pressure, constantly changing, customer–facing environment.
Position Requirements
- Demonstrated safe work history with displayed commitment to safety
- Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills
- Associates Degree required at a minimum
- Demonstrated account management skills are preferred
- Demonstrated contract negotiation skills are preferred
- Experience with terminal operations, truck maintenance or field service operations preferred
- Strong oral and written communication skills with a desire to succeed is required
- Demonstrated self-motivated teammate with a positive attitude is required
- Ability to work with customers, commercial representatives, internal support resources, contractors, management and community representatives
- PC skills required along with ideas to improve efficiency in serving our customers through improved technical means is a plus
- Demonstrated organizational skills with the ability to multi-task in a very fast paced environment
- Travel throughout the United States may be required, but is less than 15% of job requirement
Principal Accountabilities:
Account Management- Engage APEX Leadership Team and AMs for price actions to maximize profitability
- Identify and maintain key relationships at site and procurement levels
- Create new value for customers through education and collaboration with key contacts
- Extend existing contracts by leveraging service level and performance
- Negotiate new contracts to maximum profit opportunity
- Create account plans and execute on volume and profitability targets
- Use various media resources to find and develop new business
- Collaborate with internal sales teams to identify how APEX fits with other Air Products offerings
- Work with marketing to ensure target customers are receiving proper communication
- Prospecting to include cold calls both over the phone and through email
- Use technical knowledge base to determine and guide the best supply solution for customer need
- Ensure all operational parameters are defined and understood so APEX Customer Service and Operations can execute on the job safely and effectively
- Completion of Pre-Job Safety Questionnaire to pre-qualify site conditions and communicate to Customer Service
