Principle Communication Associate (Remote)

We are looking for a team member to join our Premium & Emerging Merchant Tech team. This is an important role that will execute and evolve an employee engagement strategy to continue to enhance the community and belonging for our engineers and associates across the organization. You will be part of an experienced and diverse team and have the opportunity to partner closely with other technology teams, businesses and leadership. This person will report to the Communications & Associate Engagement Manager.


Candidates should have a passion for technology, strong written and verbal communication skills, expertise in relationship-building, a passion for employee engagement, the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines at once, and a willingness to roll up their sleeves to bring objectives to life. Candidates should be excited to partner with leaders to build communication strategies, improve the daily lives of our engineers, connect dots across teams and help bring a culture to life.


Responsibilities

Strategic Communications & Engagement Support

  • Serve as a strategic partner to the lead communicators and chiefs of staff to plan and prepare effective and engaging internal communications that educate, inform, connect with and inspire leaders and associates

  • Drive the communications strategy for our tech tower leads, supporting the Premium & Emerging Tech narratives

  • Be a creative storyteller to curate engaging experiences including gatherings, meetings, storytelling and special events.

  • Evaluate performance for communications, based on metrics and other leading key performance indicators; recommending refinements to communications strategies, messaging and new feedback mechanisms, as needed, based on ongoing assessments.

  • Own an internal “beat.” Research, compile and distribute relevant news through various internal channels, including maintaining the shared engagement, editorial and DIB calendars working across the team to ensure there is a holistic view of the monthly calendar

  • Partner with and influence internal partners as needed in the best interests of the line of business and its employees.

  • Provide communications support as needed and for ad-hoc requests in close partnership with Internal Communications team

Employee Programs

  • Recognition & Appreciation

    • Manage Enterprise and Tech Associate Recognition Programs across Capital One and the business including Circle of Excellence, Lead the Way, and TechX

    • Support promotion acknowledgement and celebration

    • Partner with internal communications and Chief of Staffs to enhance or create various internal recognition programs

    • Measure the success and optimize the evolution of the program by partnering with the analytics team

    • Own associate swag and gifting program, identify opportunities to surprise and delight associates

    • Manage new hire, new addition to the family, and congratulatory moment swag boxes. Drive speciality gifting across the organization

    • Lead vendor and budgeting across programs, partnering closely with finance, the Chief of Staff office to ensure adherence

  • BAU Program Management

    • Support tracking and communications related to compliance based training requirements

    • Support and iterate on line of business onboarding program

    • Identify opportunities for additional programs to create leverage for our tech towers and build plans for execution

Event Management

  • Manage event production for associate based events like parties, celebrations quarterly team events, conference support, Lunch & Learns, Speaker Series, and more

  • Support and execute for on-site events (if needed)

  • Provide communication and support planning for team-wide events, including sending invites and incorporating communication reminders to the team

  • Gather feedback and review metrics/analytics to continue to enhance event programming


The Successful Candidate Will Have:

  • Excellent communication skills (oral, written and listening)

  • Experience working with cross-functional teams to drive programs and build relationships

  • Ability to understand, organize and present complex information in an easily understandable format tailored to a variety of audiences

  • Proven creative ability in generating new and innovative ideas

  • Excellent judgment in leadership consultation

  • Consistent track record of successfully managing large scale projects and events

  • Highly motivated and capable of both working independently and with a team

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Strong decision making and problem solving skills

  • Able to handle multiple projects simultaneously with competing resources and deadline, and stay in budget

  • Strong writing and storytelling skills with sound editorial judgment

  • Experience managing organizational change communications


Basic Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree or military experience or at least 3 years of experience as a communications specialist

  • A least 3 years of experience in Communications

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • 5+ years of experience in Communications

  • 1+ years of experience with GSuite

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

Location is New York City

  • $100,481 and $118,545 for Principal Communications Assoc

Location is Colorado

  • $85,173 and $100,485 for Principal Communications Assoc

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.
