Today, we have 14 campuses that are enhancing the lives of low-income seniors, youth, and families. We are looking for an Accountant Assistant.


The ERAP Accountant Clerk is responsible for assisting in accurate and complete monthly reporting of all financial information relative to the Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP). Provides support to that position as needed.


Essential Functions

  • Process check requests submitted by the Emergency Rental Assistance Program appropriately to ensure the proper disbursement of program funds.
  • Responsible for reconciling ERAP- related general ledger accounts, preparation of supporting schedules and record retention according to governmental policies and procedures.
  • Compile information and prepare reports to assist with the month-end close process and management’s financial decisions.
  • Assist with the maintenance of subsidiary ledgers and prepares reports to validate general ledger balances.
  • Perform account analysis and prepare journal vouchers for correcting entries when necessary.
  • Reconcile ERAP bank account, report any identified errors to the Accountant Controler, and prepare appropriate journal vouchers to correct postings when necessary.
  • Prepare the daily cash balance report and communicate funding needs to ensure sufficient balances for the ERAP disbursements.
  • Determine & evaluate eligibility, months of assistance, and funding amount for individuals seeking assistance through ERAP.
  • Understand ERAP requirements under the program guidelines and adhere to confidentiality standards.
  • Collaborate with Homelessness Prevention Services team members to ensure timely processing of applications.
  • Assist the HPS Director with trainings and ongoing support of the HPS Specialists.
  • Maintain a strong knowledge of the federal requirements for the Emergency Rental Assistance Program and the County’s eligibility criteria.

Accounts Receivable

  • Assist on the preparation of monthly invoices and backup documentation for founders if they required to submitted with invoice.
  • Enter Accounts receivables and Cash receipts on MIP.
  • Assist in the preparation of deposits.
  • Filed AR and CR Journal Entries.
  • Refer overdue accounts to the Accounting Supervisor for adjustments, write- off or collections.
  • Assist in responding to client or payer account inquiries as required.

Accounts Payable

  • Assist filling cases flies in a timely manner.
  • Assist in preparing checks and associated reports.
  • Assist in preparing all Accounts Payable sub-ledger journals for posting to General Ledger monthly.
  • Assist in reconciling Accounts Payable sub-ledger to General Ledger monthly.
  • Assist on daily cash balance reconciliation.
  • Assist in responding to participants and director inquiries as required.

General Ledger

  • Assist with monthly general ledger reconciliations as required.
  • Assist in preparation of monthly bank reconciliations

Customer Service

  • Engage in positive communication via email, phone, and online platform with landlords and tenants to request additional information needed to process applications.
  • Follow-up on email inquiries and track outreach to landlords and tenants for documentation and information related to assigned applicants.
  • Always represent the organization in a prudent and professional manner.

Community Engagement

  • Conducts outreach to a wide array of community members and organizations.
  • Develops partnerships and establishes communication and rapport between community agencies.
  • Must be willing to travel to multiple MNC sites or events requiring assistance

Qualifications

  • Bachelor‘s degree in Accounting or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 1+ years’ experience and skills in accounting.

Requirements

  • Fingerprinting Clearance (DOJ/FBI) and Clearance Child Abuse Index
  • Completed Covid-19 Vaccination Record
  • Non-profit experience is a plus
  • Willingness to work as a member of and contribute to a team in a dynamic, learning environment
  • Able to multi-task, prioritize task, meet deadlines, able to do presentations
  • Strong analytical skills and demonstrated attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
  • Maintain the highest level of confidentiality
